Then only the more entitled received a secondary education then for the good of our society it was extended to all. Now the next natural extension of public education is post secondary for all. Well into the 19[SUP]th[/SUP] century there was no public police or fire protection in our large communities, it was only there for those who could afford it, now it is extended to all.

College is not a right...but a privilege. A privilege for those who qualify for it academically.

Having watched two of my own children qualify for and graduate from the college of their choice, I have come to understand that, if someone qualifies academically for college but cannot afford to pay for it, there are millions upon millions of scholarship dollars available to them. In addition, there are work-study programs and other options that they can tap into in order to attend.

My children did not qualify for much in the way of academic scholarships and no scholarships that were needs-based. How did they pay for college?? They both worked their entire college careers, had career based internships and took out student loans that they are now paying off.

Anyone can attend college if they qualify for it academically. It just depends upon how hard they work in their classes and how hard they work to pay for it, whether that is at a job or at finding scholarships to fund their studies.

primary education used to be a privilege but as society advance it became a right, secondary education used to be a privilege but as society advanced it became a right, as our society becomes more complicated and technologically advanced post secondary education should be a right. But of course that is opposed by the privileged, selfish and the greedy.

I think Mansions and luxury vehicles are basic human rights too. Let's tax people more to give welfare mommies a nice car and nice house.
