Haha...when you play in Ireland you learn to play the elements, and from that day you are never bothered by them again.we played on a typical Irish golf day...mixture of sideways rain, knock you down wind and warm sun all in 18 holes!
I played Tralee (a great course in its own right) in a driving rain....(it's not like we could get a rain check and play another day). I can't remember much about the course bacause I saw it thru rain covered/fogged glasses.
At Old Head, I had a tap in birdie on their signature hole....a 540 yard plus par 5 whose left "rough" and O.B. is 200 feet straight down into the Atlantic. I reached the green in 2 aided by a 50 knot tailwind. Same course, coming back against the wind, I used a driver and came up just short on a 160yd par3 ....shot from an elevated tee DOWN to a green across a chasm. My caddy told me to put my iron away and get my Driver...I looked at him in disbelief LOL....good call.
