From another site, a poster talked about going to the same place for vacation every year. As many great places as there are in the country and world to see, that's just not for us. What is your typical vacation?

I go to Myrtle Beach every year for the golf trip, but somewhere new every year with the family.

The wife and I go to our standard place Hilton Head, also long weekend mini trips to different 500 mile radius places and we also take longer vacation to other places we haven't been

I have been to Ocean City, MD several times, and Oak Island, NC twice. I've been to Arizona several times. Once for spring break in college, and three times to see my brother when was living there.

I've taken two cruises. One to the Bahamas and one to the Western Caribbean. I love cruises and wouldn't mind taking one every few years, but to different places.

We have started taking baseball trips each summer as our main vacation. Last year we went to Chicago to see games at Wrigley and US Cellular. This year we are going to Boston in June. We hope to do NY/Philly and Baltimore/DC the next couple years.

For my money, my top four trips are this:

1. Vegas
2. Caribbean All Inclusive
3. Family Myrtle Beach Trip- Guys golf in morning and then meet up with the ladies at the beach after a morning round.
4. Golf trips w/buddies- Various locations. Want to go out West at some point. All of the trips have been this side of the country. A guy I work with went out West in September. Played Pebble x2, Spyglass, Spanish Bay and Poppy Hills. Sounded amazing. Not a cheap trip, though. I also want to hit Bandon Dunes at some point. I played a lot of courses in Vegas when I lived there. Some fun ones. Played some nice courses in the Portland area when I was there for work but none of those were buddy trips.

At this point, I have no interest in paying to go to Europe. So much more bang for your buck on this continent. I also don't like to do stuff on vacation other than drink, pool/beach and golf. So going places like Washington DC/San Francisco where you would have to sight see and walk around and take tour buses sound terrible.

Annual fishing trip with the family to the U.P. Mich. and then another trip later in the summer to any beach!

Never have been to Virginia Beach...is it worth a trip or should I continue to head south for my beach trip?

Too young to do the same thing every year. so much to see.

My stepdad's brother has a cabin in Paradise, MI. Some of my siblings and I are thinking about taking a trip up to Torch Lake and then his cabin for a few days.

We try to hit different places as much as possible. I do plan on going back to the Boundary Waters many more times, though. But those will probably be solo trips most of the time.

Continue South...

We try to go to a new place each year but we are at the age where there are 3 or 4 weddings a year, which takes up a lot of time and money, fortunately we live 20 minutes from the ocean.

I'd like to head back out West on a long road trip someday to see all the highlights I missed while living in Arizona. Amazing how different our country is driving a few thousand miles.

Outer Banks family vacation every year since forever. Inlaws are purchasing a house in either the bahamas or florida so the family vacations will be moving there. Which I'm cool with!!

New place every year, but if I get some random time off, we will head to old favorites. Sanibel/Captiva island, visiting friends, etc.


So far been to Italy, France, England, Galapagos, Cuba, Alaska, Caribbean (cruise -- Puerto Rico, Turks and Caicos, Bahamas and St. Martin), Canada (skiing), Bora Bora (this summer) and Peru (Machu Picchu).


Places we will hit before we are 35/33: Spain/Portugal (fiancée has been), Germany, Greece, Sweden/Norway/Finland, Australia, Antarctica (the one semi-longshot). I also want to hit up Africa, but my fiancée went the year we met, so that might have to be a family trip with kids in like 20 years.

I could do Europe every year, as I love the history. Asia have no desire to visit. I wouldn't turn down Japan, but wouldn't go anywhere else.

As soon as I/we get out of debt, and the kids get older, I'd like to go somewhere different, however with in decent driving distance (not much over 8 hrs). Hopefully in two years we can do Disney with the kids, and then go from there.

Two diff kinds.
My family, parents/bro/sisters go to the same place each year. Spend a week at the same lake. We have it down to a routine!
Early AM fishing, come back and clean the fish. Eat breakfast. Boat, swim, snorkel, hike, hang out at the beach all day. A big dinner as each family is in charge of one night. Then evening fishing, campfire.
Repeat.

Wife and kids usually do something diff each year.

We go to either Holden Beach or North Myrtle every year. I do a lot of weekend trips to Nashville to hang out with my cousin and watch him play. This year, I'd like to just start visiting different cities on long weekends. I'd like to go to Indy, Chicago, Pittsburgh, and Philly.

I can't travel enough. I love going anywhere and everywhere. Due to living in 3 states in our almost 5 years of marriage, we've gotten to see a lot of the country. I have gotten to do my own travel (or mini-vacations) due to my career. I probably travel 1-3 weekends a month depending on the month.

If I were out of debt (10-12 years), then I'd be traveling a lot more internationally. Europe is amazing. I'd love to go to South America and parts of Asia (primarily South Korea to see college friends).

I started going to Ireland & Britain the past several years to see different parts of both and play golf on some legendary courses. This July we do the Grandaddy of em all... St Andrews in Scotland. I do some geneology look-ups while I'm there too, last year found the castle ruins of Tiernan O'Rourke's clan in County Sligo, Ireland. According to local legend He was a Very Big Deal back in the day...kinda like I am today.

Dad, the only place you've ever been a big deal at is the Deadbeat Fathers website, and the Chippendales show for making it rain.

We are Disney fanatics and own a vacation club membership....go there a couple of times a year. We mix in at least one other vacation at somewhere new every year.

@Tiernzier....What courses have you played in Ireland?

We like to go to different places each year. We do Colorado sometime over winter for a week every year because we really only pay for plane tickets and everything else is pretty much free.

Otherwise we we try and pick different places to go. I think this year we will go on another cruise but to different ports then the last one. If I did have to do a vacation every year it would easily be Vegas.

Hits - the most famous course I've played in IRE is Ballybunion and it was worth the £125 tab and we got some discount on that! Other courses were local tracks around County Mayo - Carne Club, Westport Golf Club, Ballinrobe. Played a unique 9 holed out on Achill Isle that had all the greens surrounded by a 4' fence to keep the sheep from grazing on the greens. If you hit the fence on you approach shot you could place the ball on the nearest spot on the green on the other side per local rules. Incredible scenery on that course.

You lucky dog....Ballybunion is one of the world's top courses. I was there and walked around the clubhouse and the practice green, but we did not play there, mainly because we had a couple of older fellows in our group that couldn't walk the course, and they won't allow "buggies" even for medical reasons. We did play Tralee and Waterville, and another course named Dooks....but by far, my favorite was playing along the cliffs at Old Head at Kinsale.

Like you, we are eyeing Scotland next...but probably not till next year.

Old Head and Lahinch are on my bucket list. Ballybunion was a treat and we played on a typical Irish golf day...mixture of sideways rain, knock you down wind and warm sun all in 18 holes! It was a great day and I had an eagle on a short par 4 with a 7 from about 130 out. Memory of a lifetime.

We are pretty boring as we do Virginia Beach every year. Last year we added a ballpark tour and that will continue as all 4 of us enjoyed it.
