I'm not surprised that any one of those guys made it...I am surprised that all 4 made it. Good for Biggio.

Nope. After Biggio finished 1 vote short last year I figured he was a lock. I know sometimes guys dont vote for someone again if more candidates are eligible (stupid). But, I figured more people would vote for him this year

Smoltz was a pretty much lock.

Pedro and Johnson...probably the best LHP and RHP the last 25 years, with apologies to Greg Maddux.

Yeah, thats a given. I didnt look, but would guess Randy got the most (around 97%), Pedro around 91%, Smoltzy at like 83% and Biggio around 80%.

Pedro was just plain nasty for a few seasons. Smoltz had the longevity and thrived as a starter and closer and to think, atlanta only won one WS with the HOF on the staff.....

Didnt realize that Biggio and Jeter's regular season stats were pretty similar.

Biggio was the epitome of a team player in playing CF, second and catching. Dont have an issue with any of them.

Randy Johnson...plain nasty for a very long time. I think Chapman could be like him if he were to become a starter

Lol DAMN! Nailed em. Biggio is higher than I expected though.

I did get help when I read Pedro "got shit on" on Twitter. Figured that meant he didnt get as many votes.

Haha I'm not surprised I figured Pedro would only get around 500. It sucks the Big Unit only got 97.3%. I really wanted him to get the most ever he is my favorite pitcher of all time.

yeah, you were so close I just assumed you looked it up before posting...

Pedro took a lot of shit when he pushed down old man zimmer, but man all he did was help push him aside, and down, when he came after Pedro! His biggest thing was only like 215 or so wins (but only 100 losses).

I was a moron to many by saying Biggio would make the HOF back on the huddle probably around 10 years ago

I wish Raines and Mussina would make it.

Hate how Bonds is lumped with Clemens

Pedro said the toughest hitter he had to face was Edgar Martinez

I read that, and just had to LOL at how good Pedro was when I saw Edgar was 3/25 against him.

I remember the discussions like that where many thought Biggio wasnt worthy of it and that is kind of why I asked if anyone was surprised. I thought some would say he wasnt worthy because of past discussion on the boards.

He said Edgar didn't fare well but he least desired facing Edgar and then Edgar would make him work and work and work and he had to use multiple higher speed fastballs he didn't want to throw because it would wear him down.

He said on air on MLB Network that having to face Edgar would always piss him off lol.

That's because Biggio is the type of player easiest to argue against: cumulative stats without any perceived years of "pure dominance"

I'm not making that argument, I just know it's the most prevalent one regarding him. I'm all for Biggio in the Hall.

Yeah...knew it too but I knew his cumulative numbers would be too high and mixed with his one team, his main position and willing to change positions and his style of play would definitely win over enough voters.

Is Piazza getting steroids/small park backlash? I am pretty sure his stats are better than Bench, Fisk, Dickey. I'd think Piazza over Biggio for HOF, not that Biggio is not deserving.

The crazy thing about Piazza was he was drafted in a round that doesnt even exist anymore...the 60's, as a favor, and family friend to Lasorda. It is amazing he made it where he did.

I hate that I do but I give Piazza some steroid backlash....if held at gunpoint to guess correctly...I would guess he did.

I always liked him but believe he juiced.

I don't like biggio making it. He was above average for a dozen years but never great. I think greatness should make HOF. I think a GREAT player for 5 years > Good player for 20.
