I assume UM would have to pay a buyout being that Harbaugh is still under contract or are the 49ers expected to just fire him?

It's still a rival whether one of the teams suck or not. TTUN being elite again will be good for the national perception of the B1G, but I could give a rats ass whether they're ever elite again as far as the rivalry is concerned. They're that team up north--game (always) on.

One of the things that make is "The Game" is that more times than not there was always something on the line and they were both elite teams. I respect your rationale, Chiefs, but I disagree. I would be surprised if Harbaugh stays more than 3 or 4 years at Michigan. Just seems like a guy that wants to be in the NFL. This gives him control of his destiny.

No. the only "out" written into his contract is for an offer from the U of M. He may get fired but he also is able to walk away for the U of M job.

Urb might want to tear up that contract with his family because Harbaugh is going to be a recruiting monster in this area.
