I pretty much agree with this except I don't think the Browns could have done any better. There is no QB in this draft that I think is ever going to win anything so its a wasted year regardless. I see 4-5 wins next year and a chance to grab a real winner, Cardale Jones.BR1986FB;1725911 wrote:Call it whatever you want but it's pretty obvious to see the direction they are going in..."safe." They might as well load up on defense & O-Linemen since they don't have a QB.
That's what you & COA want, correct? And I'm not necessarily saying there's anything wrong with that but you guys better be the last ones bitching when they win 3 or 4 games this year. Lose for another year and go get the QB next year, and if they squeak out 6 wins, wait until the 2016 draft to get the QB, and so on, and so on....

Even if bradford plays, what has he done that has shown anybody that he is worth a first round pick? Is it the fact that he was a former overall #1 pick? Some people need to get real.Commander of Awesome;1725960 wrote:I would wager a negative win impact actually. Hear me out.
Bradford is made of glass and hurt in the preseason. We don't have Eriving to help the oline, thus he's hurt. Mack leaves next season bc we suck ass. Now next offseason, Bradford is gone, and we don't hve a Pro bowl center OR his replacement. Sounds like a pretty fucking stupid idea to me.

This. under 60% completion, never a top QB. Always fucking hurt. Good luck with that Eagles.like_that;1725962 wrote:Even if bradford plays, what has he done that has shown anybody that he is worth a first round pick? Did you even open it? Its an interview on 92.3 from your boy Lane stating that Farmer drafted Manziel. It's okay! Haslam liking somebody/being on board =/= him making the call. Going to remember this because next year's draft you will be slobering for the Browns to trade up and "get their guy".BR1986FB;1725967 wrote:NO

NFL draft scouts already think Cardale is a top 10 pick, but BR disagrees because he only played 3 games. LOL

I dk about you guys but dgb would be a steal at 43. And could end up being the best receiver out of this class. He's worth the risk imo

Jones or someone else ... Next years QB crop should be better according to everything that I've read. This year crop is/was poor. I think the Browns did great in solidifying the line on both sides of the ball, helping to ensure that when we do get a QB they'll have the best players surrounding them, and increasing their odds of success.

They won't touch DGB with Gordon on the roster. Which I can't blame them for. But id love to have him.

Aren't you supposed to be an OL guy? And you don't see the value of Erving? Are you blind?? The dude can play any position on the line for us except the one where we have an entrenched All-Pro (and Erving is a legit LT too). Erving is going to start from day 1 and improve our offensive line.BR1986FB;1725929 wrote:I'm not saying they didn't get better at those two positions but the Erving pick was just filling a vacancy that will be there next year (Mack).

OK and Mariota went #2 so what would you have had the Browns do? Don't go into some philosophical spiel, answer the damn question: what would you have done to address the QB situation? And what would you have done at #19?

Who said Erving had "no value?" I said him being drafted was essentially a pre-emptive strike to replace Mack when he leaves. Yeah, he'll start from day 1 on the line but he's going to end up being the center when Mack leaves. I look at it as a one year "addition" before it becomes a replacement in year two.lhslep134;1725982 wrote:Aren't you supposed to be an OL guy? And you don't see the value of Erving? I said all along I would've made the trade for Bradford but that couldn't happen because Tennessee wasn't willing to deal with Philly. I also said that I'm accepting of what they are trying to do...build up the O-Line & defense, but people are fooling themselves if they think it's going to equate into an immediate impact in wins. They will take a step back in the "W" column this year. I just hope that Haslam is patient enough to see things through.lhslep134;1725988 wrote:OK and Mariota went #2 so what would you have had the Browns do? BR are you kidding me? Read the tone of the post and the tone of the rest of your posts from this morning
You might not have said the Erving pick had "no value" but you certainly implied it.
Why would you use the language "just filling a vacancy that will be there next year" instead of saying we drafted a versatile lineman who will start from day 1?BR1986FB;1725929 wrote:I'm not saying they didn't get better at those two positions but the Erving pick was just filling a vacancy that will be there next year (Mack).

The Browns most pressing needs are QB and WR.
It was a very slim chance they would be able to address the QB spot where they were. As I stated yesterday, I didnt buy the titans were going to trade that pick to the browns for their two, and I didnt think that the eagles would have enough to offer the titans even if they had traded bradford to the browns so I cannot blame the browns for not getting a QB one bit.
The WR though...yeah some are still out there but I think they really needed to get one of the top WR's with one of their first round picks.

He's a good player but in the end he's a replacement for Mack. In two years, instead of two players (Mack & Erving), the Browns will have one.lhslep134;1725995 wrote:BR are you kidding me? Read the tone of the post and the tone of the rest of your posts from this morning

Yes, Erving could very well be a stud but I'd be a bit more excited with the prospect of Erving AND Mack on the same line than making a pick to replace Mack in a year while plugging him in on the OL in 2015.

What does Mack leaving have to do with Erving? Its widely known Mack wants out. Nothing that the Browns can do about it.BR1986FB;1725997 wrote:He's a good player but in the end he's a replacement for Mack. In two years, instead of two players (Mack & Erving), the Browns will have one.

Yeah, he is probably the replacement for Mack but you dont draft a guy like that unless you have many of the other pieces in place already. Drafting an OL to replace a guy in 2 seasons is a luxury especially when they need to get a WR.BR1986FB;1725997 wrote:He's a good player but in the end he's a replacement for Mack.
