A little over the top, but for the most part, this is the perception of the Browns to fans, players, and competitors across the country.

I agree that Kelly isn't going to just jump at the offer of a 1st. He's going to need more ammo to get where he needs to be to grab Mariota.Sonofanump;1712061 wrote:I don't agree with that. It has to be a three way deal that might not take place until the draft. The Eagles need Washington or Oakland to trade up above NYJ.

Michael Johnson was released. Is he a fit in the 3-4?

No thanks on a guy who got cut 1 year into a 5 year $44M deal. Something's wrong with that picture. Maybe he re-motivates himself if he goes back to Cinci but I don't want to waste the money.Commander of Awesome;1712099 wrote:Michael Johnson was released. Is he a fit in the 3-4?

No. He'd have to convert to OLB or gain weight. Light in the pants (270 lbs) for a 3-4.Commander of Awesome;1712099 wrote:Is he a fit in the 3-4?

I'd be willing to do a one-year prove it deal. With our strong secondary, he would really be able to get after the QB. You could also add some incentives in there, although I'm sure Cincinnati will be more than willing to give him some guaranteed money.lhslep134;1712107 wrote:No thanks on a guy who got cut 1 year into a 5 year $44M deal. I don't think the Browns the type of team he would take a one year "prove it" deal with. He'll have suitors offering multiple years.Dr. KnOiTaLL;1712116 wrote:I'd be willing to do a one-year prove it deal. With our strong secondary, he would really be able to get after the QB. I'd rather his projected playing time, if he were to join the Browns on a prove it deal, to go towards someone we can evaluate as a long term option.

Yeah, he will get multiple years. The only clubs players would agree to something like that is if they have a chance to win a ring with that team. Sorta like Revis.....even though there was an team option for a second year, and he really didnt have a lot to prove like Johnson, he had to know the chances were very high he would get cut with that amount.lhslep134;1712128 wrote:I don't think the Browns the type of team he would take a one year "prove it" deal with. Revis was cut by same team 1 yr into new deal. Exception I'm sure, just showing the other side.lhslep134;1712107 wrote:No thanks on a guy who got cut 1 year into a 5 year $44M deal. Except Revis actually contributed to the team before getting cut. He was #1 in 2013 on PFF. The only explanation for Revis getting cut was the scheme, and that's not a reasonable explanation.Commander of Awesome;1712132 wrote:Revis was cut by same team 1 yr into new deal. You're right that Revis is an exception, but I would probably guess that he's so much of an exception that there's not much of an "other side" to players who get cut after underperforming on a new deal. I'm also saying that without looking so if I'm wrong, let me know who else fits into that other side if you find others.

This is why I like farmer and Pettine. Despite how hard the media tries, they aren't going to play into their bullshit Cleveland narrative. They are here to make logical decisions, I just hope Haslam is smart enough to realize that.Commander of Awesome;1712134 wrote:One BSPN writer who isn't a total douchebag

Chargers haven't signed anyone in FA, despite big holes. Where's the media taking cheap shots at them?

I'm guessing this is Chip artificially driving the asking price up. I bet no one called with a 1st. He's hoping the Browns do though.Commander of Awesome;1712047 wrote:Jason La Canfora ‏@JasonLaCanfora 20m20 minutes ago If Kelly was offered a 1st for Bradford, my guess is it has Browns written all over it. And if Kelly wanted Mariota he'd have taken it...

Sheard ends up in New England for 2 years, $11 mil.

I think Sheard is like Jeff Faine. He'll have a better career away from here. He's not a 3-4 OLBer, plain and simple. I would have liked to see that "Hybrid" defense Petite championed when he started. Sheard would have been fun to unleash in an even or 5 man front from the DE position. With PT not playing fucking DE.Mulva;1712153 wrote:Sheard ends up in New England for 2 years, $11 mil.

Sheard reminds me of JJ Hickson. A lot of hype surrounding his potential, but just never panned out. I have nothing against him (or skrine), but I hope they don't succeed with their other teams, because I don't want to hear the IQQYesque crying rants about how we should have kept them.Commander of Awesome;1712159 wrote:I think Sheard is like Jeff Faine. Sheard is OK, but easily replaceable. Hickson just sucked.

Signed PFF's 2nd ranked OG Orlando Franklin from Denver on Tuesday. Also signed Jacoby Jones from Baltimore.Commander of Awesome;1712139 wrote:Chargers haven't signed anyone in FA, despite big holes. Where's the media taking cheap shots at them?

I could be wrong, but just a feeling. I'll quote this in April if I'm wrong and make fun of myself for getting my hopes up again as a Browns fan.
