Phil Savage @SeniorBowlPhil IMO, expect @Browns to depart from philosophy and move up for remaining best WR at #8 or #9…Devante Parker. Must get ahead of STL and MIN.

May have some merit. Guy that called Gilbert trade last season.

I don't disagree with you, thought it was funny.

If you are going to move up (not saying they should), why not move up to grab White or Cooper instead of settling on the third best?

As for stopping the run, you all can give COA as much shit as you want, but it is something the Browns severely lack. I get that the last few teams to win the SB were middle of the pack ranking wise, but in the AFC North you have to stop the run. Rapistberger really is the only QB in the AFCN that can somewhat carry an offense because he is fat and people roll off of him. The rest of the QBs in the division need a strong running game to have a good game. Hell, even the fat rapist has his best seasons when the steelers get their running game rolling. If the Browns were better at stopping the run last year, they probably split the series with the ratbirds and possibly steal the win in week 1.

Just look at the Browns season series with the bengals last year. The first game I believe they played their best run D all year (Phil Taylor played this game). They held them under 100 yards and blew them out. Flash forward to 5 weeks later, they give up over 200 yards and get their asses kicked at home.
I dont know..New England is famous for trading and hording draft picks......

As an outsider.......you all know you need a QB and WR's. However you go about that....ya gotta do it. By some accounts there are a dozen good WRs to be taken in the first round in a half. Browns likely can get a good one where they are at without pissing away other picks. I

They trade their picks for more picks, not trade them away. Big difference.

Yep. For awhile there I was starting to think that Belichick valued 2nd rounders more than 1st's. Seemed like, for a stretch, every year he was trading his 1st rounder to drop back into the 2nd and accumulate picks.

Yeah, you are right. I misread your statement. NE trades away higher picks and get more...you are against the browns trading up and giving picks. I agree for the most part

I think there is a fine line between quality and quantity that needs walked in regards to draft picks. That players you get have to be a need/good enough to make your team/make your team better. I don't agree with having one strict belief one way or the other. Each trade needs evaluated separately.

If you can't evaluate talent and develop talent it doesn't matter how many picks you have or where they are. Since 1999, the Browns have had years with high picks and years with many picks (often these came in the same draft). Out of all of those picks, there have only been a few key players developed.

I think he can keep his nose clean but I wonder if his skillset translates to the league. DeFillipo is going to have to tailor an offense specifically to him. I don't think he'll do well as a conventional/pocket passer. If they do a lot of moving pocket stuff, he might have a chance.

I like JT but I'll believe it when I see it. I think we are stuck with him for one more year so he will get his shot. I certainly do not want to draft Mariota or Rapist; and I certainly don't want to trade anything for fucking Sam Bradford.

A few of you will love this. On my way to lunch, a caller called in to 92.3 suggesting that the Browns trade Joe Thomas for a 1st rounder while his "value was still high and before he declined." His reasoning was sound but a) highly unlikely a team is going to pony up a 1st for JT, b) like Philip Rivers, JT is still playing at a high level/best currently in the business and c) besides Joe Haden he's one of the few who bang the Cleveland "drum" and for that reason in itself he's too valuable.

I also think JT is worth more than 1 first round pick.

Nah, too old. They might get a 2nd for him but if they got a 1st the Browns would likely have to throw in a 6th or something.

@ESPNNFL: WOW! - CLE offers two 1st-round picks to TEN for No. 2 overall selection in Draft where they would take Marcus Mariota.

Interesting..........

As a steelers fan, I dont want to see the browns getting a good QB. If they can go 7-9 with Hoyer and company last year...who knows what they can do with a good QB

Do you feel it is dumb because they are trading the picks or because you dont think Mariota will be that good?

I think if you are confident that he can be a franchise QB then go for it. The good ones make your team a contender for 10+ years.
