Yeah the whole "I rarely post on here anymore" is getting old BR. I think you bring a lot to these threads (when you aren't doom and gloom, which you usually aren't) but every year or so you pretend like you are too cool for the OC school and say you don't or won't post here anymore. Then a few months later you are back. Remember the "bet" you lost and you said you'd be gone forever? Come on enough with that shit. These threads have good convo on them, and we finally are troll-less thanks to some moderating, and you are gonna join the trolls on the other thread. SMH

That's completely different than saying "he's a pothead WR who cares more about hitting the bong than his career".

One is a rational, fair take on the situation. The other is a doom and gloom narrative stretching.

As you can see, I'm not defending Gordon. I'm going on the offensive about those making the situation something it's not. It's Josh Gordon f'ing up, not Josh Gordon being a pothead.

Not that you would know anything about the Browns and their offense, because, you know, you are a steelers fan, but the Browns offense isn't "completely fucked" without gordon. They actually did better without him than with him.

Both are kind of right though. Gordon, by his actions, has shown to be very selfish, stupid and idiotic.
BR obviously overstated it but I would be pissed too at a player on my team who has fucked off the offense for a number of years.

....then it comes back to the front office not doing something in the draft last year knowing he was suspended for the year.

I actually believe what Gordon said regarding this latest instance. It was up to both Gordon and any Browns' officials with him to know that his drinking ban ended after the league year not the Browns' year. Both of them let Gordon down, not just Josh. The Browns' should have known, and the guy lost his job accordingly.

Better this year than last on offense?



The browns offense in 2013 scored more per game, passed for more yards, and gained more total yards/game than they did in 2014, and in 2013 it was a season where 3 diff qb's all attempted at least 96 passes.

I agree that the alcohol thing was BS. I am not 100% convinced that he thought it ended with the browns season but it doesnt really matter. He got caught up in a technicality, kind of like when he did when he barely tested over and said it was from second hand. Many times it is a small thing that totally screws a person over and the reason it does is because of the big issues from the past. Sucks for the browns, and that offense. His ability is a game changer and I think if going into this season he was with the team the whole year they would have won a couple more games and who knows....maybe even the playoffs.

Maybe he should do what Josh Hamilton did when he was with the reds. He hired the managers brother I think it was to chaperone him especially on the road, to keep him out of trouble.

Well he shouldn't be required to do so many damn drug and alcohol tests for fucking weed and booze. The NFL is so stupid about that shit.

If the guy is shooting up before games, okay step in.

But if an NFL player wants to smoke a little weed in Vegas, the NFL should not get involved with that.

Alcohol? Agreed. I get it he had a DUI, but how many people get tested for alcohol usage in their employment?
Weed? Disagree. Many, many jobs out there require drug tests for employment. I have one for a freaking part time job. He only gets tested so often because he popped hot and was put into a program.

Dez needed a babysitter and it really helped him. Just because Gordon brought the situation upon himself doesn't mean that others can't help him out or help him avoid more trouble.

No matter your thoughts on weed and alcohol, fact of the matter is, he makes poor decisions. Even it if were second-hand on the weed test, he should've never put himself in the situation to be close to it knowing the possible consequences. Same with drinking. If you were facing a one-year unpaid ban, wouldn't you ask someone if you're cleared to be able to drink? It's common sense. The dude is a complete idiot.

Correct me if I'm wrong, isn't that why the WR coach on the flight with him was fired? He either told Gordon wrong and/or didn't know if Gordon was cleared?

whatever you want to debate it was, Dez ultimately took the responsibility to save his career and change as a person. Attempting to help doesn't mean anything if the person doesn't want to change. I'm sure the Browns have done all that they can to help Gordon. Why wouldn't they? Gordon is the one who needs to own up and make some changes.
