This isn't on Pettine, IMO. It's on Shanahan. Long before this game, I thought "if you run on 1st down, you're fucked." Gotta use play action and Gordon as a catch & run receiver. But what has Shanahan done? Keeps running those stupid toss sweeps, which EVERYONE on the planet knows are coming, on 1st down. He also is allowing Hoyer to stay in the game no matter how shitty he plays. That is all on him.

Another abysmal showing by the offense. Shanahan needs to change up the fucking playcalling. The runs getting stuffed in the backfield is unacceptable. Do something different dick head. Completely inept on offense, and Hoyer for game number 4 in a row is not helping.
