The LTE/WiMax debate has nothing to do with GSM and CDMA. LTE and WiMax are 4g technologies designed to move DATA and not voice. So the CDMA/GSM debate will still be relevant.
CMDA and GSM won't go away in the near future but once they figure out a standard for voice over LTE, the carriers will move to all LTE for voice and data.

Verizon will have the iphone by the end of 2010
I would love to know where you got that nugget of information. I kept on hearing people say the iPhone will come to VZW in 2009 and that didn't happen. There is a lot of things that would have to happen on both ends and it just isn't the technology holding things back.

I have Verizon and I love it. Some of my friends had ATT or Sprint and have jumped ship to Verizon. I have to ask though; what is 3G? I really don't understand what that means.

I've had ATT for five or six years...I've probably had two or three legitimate "dropped" calls, and those were simply due to a weak signal.
The only other "issue" I've run into is trying to call someone after an OSU home game (which is an obvious capacity issue, so I'm not going to complain about that)
That might be the case but ATT is not fixing the problems in two of their biggest markets (data usage), SF and NYC. ATT has dropped the ball.
