I feel like Ryan Anderson always kills us.

Bad loss with the brow only playing about 5 minutes.

Since the cavs lost a regular season game to an 18-7 team, are they overrated?! Can they win a title after losing by that much at home?!

I'm not even worried about that. My concern is how, many times, they jump out to a big lead and then let the opponent get back into it with that sieve of a "defense" they play. If they don't get some rim protection, they won't last long in the playoffs. They get absolutely manhandled in the paint.

Didn't think it was replying to my post. I was responding to what ESPN said. Whether it's an 18-7 team or a 7-18 team, if they keep playing that kind of defense, all the talent on the roster in the world won't help.

Also need a wing defender. If only we had an elite young prospect who's a top wing defender already and extremely athletic....

Wiggins is dead last in the entire league in VORP (value over replacement player). He's years away, if he ever gets there.

Interesting, he's really dead last? I find that a bit hard to believe, but I dont have insiders, nor do I go to ESPN.com so I'll take your word for it. My point is that we need a wing defender almost, if not equally, as bad a rim protector. The Hawks killed us last night (based on stats) from the 3 pt shot. Some of that I'm sure is they got hot, some is that our guard rotation is undersized, and marion isn't the defender he used to be. Nor should we expect him to be at his age. Cavs aren't a legit contender until we get those, or something changes drastically on the defensive end. Both can happen, but the fear with Love and his defense has come to fruition.

Yeah, they definitely need someone to defend the wing. They got destroyed from the outside last night.

Have also heard some complaining about Blatt pulling the trigger on timeouts too late when opponents go on a run. Instead of cutting off the run at 6-8 points, the complaint is that he lets the run go on too long before trying to break up the other teams momentum.

The defense is a team problem, not a Kevin Love problem. Love and Andy have the lowest DRating of any of our regulars. http://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/CLE/2015.html

Although in the Cavs' case, it really is like measuring the tallest midget.

Interesting, 4 Min players are in the top 15. I'll have to dig in and give my opinion when I have some time. I will add Dion Waiters is 16th on the list, and he's a bum so that makes sense.

I didn't mean to say that Love was the problem. I was stating that the concerns with trading for him was the lack of defense. There were some that argued that he actually wasn't that bad. He's not atrocious, but he's not a rim protector. He'll never be one, and that's ok. We don't need him to be mutumbo. His effort in the few games I've been able to see this year is inconsistent. He has the ability to be passable on defense, and for whatever reason it hasn't happened consistently with him, or the team as a whole.

Gotcha, definitely agree with that. I think Love would benefit from a little less chaos around him. Too much wasted movement on defense and getting out of position (as a team, not just Love). It was pathetic last night.

His defensive box plus/minus (a box score estimate of the points contributed per 100 possessions above/below a league average player on a league average team) is currently -1.6.

Another one to consider might be the teams points allowed per 100 possessions with vs. without him on the floor. And I do not know the answer to that one.

Ugly basketball these days. Hope these guys start to find some continuity. Not real worried because it's still very early in the season, just hoping to start to see some more consistency in the coming days.
