You could. The problem is he's already turned down 13 mil. He'll want 15-20. Tough to give for one good year. So you pay TT 15 and resign everyone.. shump will get 7.5 mil for mid level... moz will get 5, jr will get 6 ., delly will get 2, miller gets 2.............You're at 102 mil and tax is at 81... now LeBron wants more in 2 years. You're in a horrible position.

only thing getting rid of Andy or Love does is help us on taxes. Only thing worth getting rid of love for is a sign and trade.

He turned down a 4 year $48M dollar deal, so $12M a year. I think he's worth about $15 with the new salary cap increases. The salary cap will be $107M in 2017 which is when Lebron will want his new deal. We can keep them all if they want to stay and give them a decent salary, but they will almost certainly command more on the open market; so its purely up to them if they want to compete or they just want money. Unfortunately, most players just want the money so it'll be hard to keep everyone.

Lebron and Love both want more in 2 years. Both will get 7-8 more per year. And if they resign everyone for next year at projected salaries, they'll be paying 20 million in taxes alone next year.

And they will be winning multiple championships. Dan Gilbert's net worth is close to $5B; do you think he really gives a shit about $20M in reocurring tax penalties? No, he doesn't. He's a great owner who will do whatever it takes to win.

even rich people care about 20 mil if they don't feel they're getting their return on players putting them that high.

Irrelevant. Dan Gilbert, the only relevant rich person in this discussion, does not care. He will pay whatever it takes to win multiple championships.

I actually agree with this. Gilbert had shown he will spend whatever it takes to win

What makes you think he isn't getting a return on them? His team is in the finals in year 1 after they pretty much just completely changed the roster.

And this (DG's net worth) is likely going to grow. I have a client up in Detroit who says he is buying up commercial property up there and building on it like a mofo.

Buying property in Detroit should make net worth go down :)

This, not to mention more people downtown, which means more tourism/media coming in to the downtown area, which means after the games they'll be visiting the casino, which would be more money for Dan.

Gilbert is buying up Detroit for pennies and turning it into desired property.

Since Jan 15. the Cavs went 13-1 against the invincible West with the only blemish being an OT loss in Houston in a game LBJ missed 2 free throws at the end which would have iced the game.

The wrong team is favored in this series.

I would bet good money in the meeting between DG and Lebron that DG told Lebron if he came back he would do whatever it takes to build a championship level team, which includes writing a blank check to make it happen. I think one of the things that pissed off Lebron was the Heat's ownership trying to pinch pennies by making questionable roster moves; whereas DG has zero history of that. Lebron may not have the title of GM but he's probably get half his hand in all personnel decisions and that was part of the deal in coming back to Cleveland.

Interesting. Pretty smart move considering the price...

Not to mention he owns Flash Seats, which is growing and thriving as well. I've heard that a lot of teams are thinking of going to it.

We'll see. It's going to depend on the outcome of this http://www.sfgate.com/warriors/article/Warriors-ticket-resale-rules-prompt-lawsuit-6168933.php

Interesting. In a way, I don't see a huge problem with it. Why doesn't Stubhub partner with another franchise and do the same thing?

For the same reason they filed a lawsuit: it's arguably illegal.

Edit: not going into the legal argument unless anyone wants it

This. It seems like I see him once a month on Detroit news with a new purchase.

Offer was 4 for 52. I agree with him wanting up to 15M though. The only teams I could see him having any interest going to are Toronto and New York.
