The reality is, small ball works and in the case where you have to play against a Center, Thompson can do just fine and/or you can bring in a cheap big dude to buy you some minutes.
I actually agree with this. The Cavs might be better served keeping Love, signing Thompson and then doing whatever else they can to find some more wing and shooting depth. They can definitely do better than Smith and Shumpert, and there's always available big bodies that could fill minutes at center for short spurts.
IMO, it's not really smart to pay one of these non-offensive big men like Jordan, Drummond, Gortat, Asik, etc...a near max deal, unless you feel they can develop into an even more dangerous offensive players. Given the lack of big men, that's what these guys are going to go for...
