The reason being that they have championship experience, are great locker/team room guys. Not to mention, they really don't make any money. Jones and Marion make the veteran's minimum ($1,448,490 for 10+ years experience), Perkins is only making $434,547, and Miller is only making $2,732,000. For the minimal amount that these guys cost, you really aren't going to find many better pieces than them at the minimal cost. Not saying we won't/shouldn't let some of them leave, just saying that it would be foolish to kick them all to the curb for the small price we have to pay to keep them.

I don't think they really add any value honestly. The whole "veteran leadership" is irrelevant when you have a guy like LBJ on the team. I'd rather have a bench full of young prospects than a bunch of old dudes eating the bench.

$15M a year won't be a max deal, but you're kidding yourself if you don't think he's a top tier role player. Guys like this are needed to win championships and he's worth the cash.

Hold on here... so you are saying LeBron's feelings that they are an integral factor in their success is, in fact, irrelevant? That's shocking, because I was pretty sure that you would jump off a bridge if LeBron told you he'd lead you to the promised land!

I think Lebron says all the right things but I think he was more wanting the players on the team because they are friends.

Anyway, I'm James Harden's biggest fan tonight. Hope they can win out because I'd personally 1) love to sweep the Rockets in the NBA finals and/or 2) love to extend the series while Irving sits at home eating cheesecake all day.

Mike Miller, agreed.

James Jones, at least, has something left in the tank.

Sorry. TT is worth a shitload of money. One can argue he is the number 2 MVP on this team during the playoff run. LBJ says he needs to be a Cav for the rest of his career. What LBJ requests...he gets. Too bad LBJ didn't echo those about himself 4 years ago.

The Cavs bread and butter right now, and as expected, is to use Lebron James to create space for the team to rain down 3 pointers. Having TT peaking and being a beast on the offensive glass only makes it easier to put up more points. Again, not sure how the Warriors have a snow balls chance in hell of stopping that.
I think the odds will drop like a lead balloon and just checked, they already have. Warriors down to minus 235. I don't understand the love fest for the Warriors...if one breaks it down player by player. For example, Curry is the reigning MVP. But who would you rather have in the playoff finals? Curry or LeBron? I think the answer is pretty obvious. Clay Thompson or Kyrie? Again, even though still hobbled, I'll take Irving. Draymond Green or TT? Edge to Cavs. Shump, Delly and JR vs. Iguadala, Barbosa and whoever else= wash.

I get the home court advantage thing but to have the Warriors at better than 2-1 is plain old nuts.

Gonna wire in the money and make a small fortune on this baby.

Keep James Jones and Joe Harris. Get rid of Marion, Miller, Haywood and most of all, Perkins.

How many minutes has Irving played? Idiot. TT is number 2 in my book. Invaluable.

My apologies I didn't realize it was going up that much, I also saw guys in the media talking about how TT should get a max deal based on this current salary cap which is where I was basing my statements off of.

Yes he's an elite role player, I stated that. They won't let him leave, his agent is the same as Lebron's no?

It is not our money, and the Cavs can get it done within the rules, so if Gilbert is fine with the taxes, why not?? If it's not about money (ie, he won't cause you to be able to NOT sign others), give him what he wants.

That's the point, don't handcuff yourself by giving a role player near max dollars. If you can get away with paying him what he wants and what the market dictates then do so.

I guess my point is, I don't see signing him to more than he is worth having any effect on the Cavs ability to sign others. On the surface yes, but you mid level exception, trades, etc. There are ways to get who you want...you just have to be willing to pay. If Gilbert is willing to pay, who cares...sign Tristan. It for sure won't effect the current roster (everyone can return no matter what I think). It would only effect adding another bench player. In that case, I'm not worried. Get a mid level exception, trade Hayward and free up space. Whatever. It would all work out.

I think another team would be insane to give Thompson a max.

But the cavs are going to be maxed out regardless assuming love sticks around. If the options are overpaying to keep him or letting him walk and having no money to sign anyone else anyway it isn't a hard decision to make.

Another great point. They can Singh both because of Bird rights. But letting either walk, maxes them out anyway. So pay more for both, or less for 1...either way you're handcuffed with the cap.

I really don't think Love resigns in Cleveland. He wants to be in LA. Just a gut feeling.
