Here are the results of the new divisional breakdowns for Columbus City School for this wrestling season. I see a few main changes that was a little shocking to me the first being Mifflin being moved up from DII to DI. Secondly, Briggs and West being moved down to DII. Finally, East, Eastmoor and Linden all being moved down to DIII.

Div I
Mifflin
Northland
Whetstone

Div II
Beechcroft
Briggs
Centennial
Independence
Marion Franklin
South
Walnut Ridge
West

Div III
Africentric
East
Eastmoor
Linden

Why the division change a year after the divisional alignment? Especially when it happened like week 3 during football season?

No city school should be DI, not prepared for that level! On a positive note...the Darby hospitality room is FANTASTIC! : thumbup:

I would assume they were reassigned due to Brookhaven closing.

According to my AD they recalculated enrollment based on 10th and 11th graders for this year. Next year some of the divisions will change again.

The majority of the student body from Brookhaven went to Mifflin... the athletes went to Beechcroft (see football season)! Not really fair to Mifflin to be bumped up athletically when all the athletes went elsewhere! But u all know my take on it.....IT IS WHAT IT IS!! ;)

It Is What It Is - are you still coaching at Mifflin? How did things go with you over at Centennial? We are playing week 2 next year I think, thankful your QB graduated, that kid was a STUD!

It will be nice to be back down to D2 this year, but in reality once you get to Districts it all evens out. For those that didn't get the email, below is the official pairings for our Dual Tournament. Round 1 is December 10th, Championship and Consolations are January 7th and 8th, host sites TBD.

Should be an interesting year with allot of new faces. I am thinking Walnut Ridge is the team to beat now that Coach Ayers is over there. Should be a tight city race again.

Team Dual #1 (Wednesday, December 10, 2014 – start time: 5:30 pm)

Whetstone (Host)
South
Eastmoor Academy

Centennial (Host)
Northland
Africentric

West (Host)
Mifflin
Linden
Briggs

Independence (Host)
Walnut Ridge
Marion Franklin

Team Dual #2 (Wednesday, January 7, 2015 – start time: 5:30 pm)
Second Place Finishers (at one site)
Third Place Finishers (at one site)
Fourth Place Finishers (at one site)

Team Dual Championship (Thursday, January 8, 2015 – start time: 5:30 pm)
First Place Teams from the December 7, 2014 will compete.

Yes, at Mifflin for wrestling & track. Football at Centennial was good except for our horrible #'s (25 or less most games). We had good kids, a good AD, good parental support and decent talent. Next year will be interesting for sure (lost a lot of senior talent!).

I think the city title is up for grabs with Whetstone and Centennial always fielding full, or almost full, lineups. West and Marion-Franklin always have talent with a decent lineup. Walnut Ridge had a lot of kids out, but we'll have to see how that transition works out. Lastly, we are very young and lost a couple major pieces (1 playing basketball and 1 moved), so there's a lot of work to do. I thought we could pull a 3-peat these last few years, but we gave one away last year and with those 2 losses this year, who knows?? Should be very, very interesting indeed! : thumbup:

Eric Music is an awesome AD! and I have always had a great amount of respect for the Centennial kids. Smart kids that don't mess around.

Hey city league coaches. Beechcroft has a handful of experienced kids and no coach. Any of you know of anyone qualified that might be interested?

We discussed this at the coaches' meeting. If Beechcroft can't find a coach, they can practice at another school. I am sure Steve Pelletier can get work in somewhere.

Considering past history and the AD () there, it might be hard for Beechcroft to find a coach. Heard Pelletier was considering not even wrestling this year??

The glorious one!!!!!! What's up man, have you checked the central district emails? I know Cruiser has been sending alot out lately for openings but it may be winding down. For JV tournaments, talk to Coach Jones about the Whetstone one, Coach Hall about the Briggs one, and Hamilton Township about theirs Feb 6th

aka (dot) cruiser (dot) 1 @ gmail (dot) com

I'd love an email. And we have 2 JV tournaments (12/06 and 01/17) as well as a freshmen tournament (12/22). Let me know if you'd like in.

Cruiser, I would love to get in your jv meet on 12/6! I have a lot of guys that have never wrestled. Send over a contract if we can get in there. Also, my email is [email protected]. I was unable to go to the district coaches meeting so I am probably not on the email list.

Cruiser is the Sherpa that guides the city league wrestling coaches up the mountain that is central district wrestling.

Glorioso, check your school email and email me back fool! PS congrats on dropping down to D3, I see District Qualifiers in your future.

Please post your results here, in addition to sending them to the dispatch. It is the host sites responsibility to send in results. One week away from this going down. Should be some good match ups here and there. Anyone wrestling before next Weds?

At the Tri sites everyone wrestles everyone. In the event of a 3 way tie (everybody goes 1-1) tie breaker criteria will be 1 - number of pins 2 - total points scored in both duals 3 - penalty points 4 - coin toss.

At the super tri site Briggs will wrestle West, Linden will wrestle Mifflin, winners wrestle off to see who advances, losers wrestle off to complete the tri.

Just make sure you are using the device that you'll be using at meets and have a internet connection to get everything set up. Also follow you can visit this link to download the new hand signs chart: www.nfhs.org/media/885665/2014-15-wrestling-referee-signals.pdf. Send me an email if you have any questions and we didn't set a date for our winter break coaches meeting so we need to get that put together.

Good luck at the team duals and beyond. I think this team/school duals championship is awesome and hope it is a springboard toward growing al of the programs.

I've got mad respect for the CCS wrestling coaches. Not an easy sport to coach anywhere, but most of the guys who coach in the CCS system face hurdles that their suburban brethren can hardly fathom. Props to you all.

With no middle school wrestling, we are definitely working from a disadvantage (also with football). I've been on both sides and there are issues relating to each, but I've always said it would be interesting to see how a lot of suburban coaches would handle coaching in the city (and how long before they returned to normalcy, lol!).
