3 way tie in SEC West...

Miss St beats Auburn, Auburn beats Ole Miss, Ole Miss beats Miss St.

Based on the SEC tie-breaker says Mississippi State goes to the SEC title game.

If Mississippi State wins the SEC title, I think it puts 2 teams from the SEC into the Final 4.

That assumes a 3 Loss Alabama, which I do not see.

It should just be the winners of the Power 4 conferences each year (Pac 12, Big 12, ACC, SEC) and maybe in a year in which the Big 10 has an undefeated conference champ that actually beat someone outside the conference of value they could fill a spot if one of the power 4 is down.

That would solve everyone's problems.

pro tip: dont get embarrassed by scrubs like Va Tech at a home night game and you don't have to worry about being a 1 loss team that doesn't make it.

I don't give a shit what conference teams are in, which one is better?

It's not that crazy of an idea for the top 2 teams of conference A to be better than the champ of conference B

How do you know who's better without them playing each other?

It's a problem that you can't fix, you unfortunately have to trust the humans on that one.

But what does a conference really mean? It's just a geographic lumping of teams, they're not necessarily balanced between one another, so that's a problem no one can ever fix either.

If the winner of the Mississippi-Mississippi State game is undefeated and then they lose the SEC championship game, I think they will get into the playoffs. The OSU-Michigan State game is definitely an elimination game and the Oregon-Stanford game is an elimination game as well. If there is a 1 loss runner up who makes the playoffs it will be a team from the SEC, unfortunately.

Talking heads were talking about Ole Miss/Miss St. loser making the playoff, if the winner went on to win the SEC. So, in that scenario, not only would you have the conference champ, but you'd also have a DIVISION runner up. I mean, come on...

A lot of people were ok with it in 2006 when they wanted an OSU/Michigan rematch. Must be different when it's your own conference.

Not me. Who needs to see someone play twice? What's next... best of three?

I would hate to see teams play each other again, but let us face it, the perception is that the SEC has the best teams. Florida State did beat Auburn last year and they have not lost this year, but with Winston facing possible disciplinary action and possible sanctions at Notre Dame, there is the possibility that we may have a bunch of one loss teams and that opens the door for more than one SEC team to make it. If MichIgan, Michigan State and Ohio State were all undefeated and either Wisconsin or Nebraska were undefeated, would the perception be the same?

The worst was the LSU/Alabama rematch. LSU didn't even win their own division, didn't make a title game, but was place in the NCG. GTFO.

Because if they're still the second best team, the fact that they've played before isn't relevant.

I still think both Lynch State teams will stumble at least once before they play each other. When that happens the 2 teams from the SEC nightmare is over. Hopefully the Big Thugger from FSU is in jail or suspended by the end of this week and then they are out too. No way TCU doesn't lose again to somebody.

yeah, they were Michigan fans.

If you want a National championship, win the FIRST game, period.

Yeah, I know it's happened before. That was a BAD precedent to set and should never have been allowed to occur, because now you have people using that as an argument.

This is exactly why it shouldn't happen. If OSU had played Michigan again in the title game, nobody would have ever known they weren't the best teams that year. They were both exposed badly in their bowl games. Who's to say that wouldn't have happened to Alabama/LSU the year they rematched?

If there are only 4 spots, IMHO there is no way 2 teams should make it from one conference unless the other 4 conferences are terrible. (For example, let's say Wisconsin wins the B1G with 3 losses, Oregon wins the Pac with 3 losses and the loser of the Mississipis only has one loss. Maybe then I would be ok with 2 teams from the SEC) Otherwise I would like to see the conference champs battle it out to see who really is the best.

I have a question, why the fuck does a conference championship even matter? Because one team has new hats and shirts they now deserve to be on the big stage over a team who may more clearly be deserving? As bad as it sounds the SEC has more than likely the best 3 teams in the country being both Mississippi schools and Auburn. Florida State and Michigan State are probably 4-5
