Beating up a 4 year old defenseless kid = one week suspension?
AP hasn't been suspended.

I'm not a fan of using something that's sexual to 90% of adults as a punishment for little children, but even if you're in the pro-spanking crowd you can't defend Peterson here.

No, but he's been indicted, Rice wasn't even charged for a crime and pretty much got a lifetime ban. Whatever happened, apparently the 4-year old's mother is dissatisfied and doctors and lawyers agreed.

Rice was indicted at one time as well, charges ended up being dropped. Same could happen with Peterson, and once the legal process has ran its course the NFL will act in determining punishment, if any.

I will wait to reserve judgement until all the facts come out in this case, though, at first look, its definitely unsettling.

No need to wait to reserve judgement.

New accusations have come up. This isn't the first time he's beat a child of his.

Also a 3 T Vick jersey for the toddler (Falcons)

Second story happened a year ago when the child was riding in the car with Peterson. This is a child from a 3rd woman - not the mother of the kid that died and not the kid from last week. How many kids from how many women does this fkng Thugger have?

Agree. Due process in terms of employment need not equate to the legal system.

Looking at this all from a different angle....

I am not sure a single one of those babies' mothers want Peterson out of the NFL. A quick look would estimate based on his $14.4 million salary that he is paying about $30,000-50,000 per month per kid in child support depending on how many kids he really has (I took the above number of 9).

If a woman has a SINGLE kid from Peterson she does not have to have a job for the whole 18 years the kid is a minor, as for right now she is getting about $400k/year in child support for that child.

Trust me, as terrible as this beating is, I don't believe the woman(en) involved with Peterson want him out of the NFL.

^^^

I see your point, but isn't it the same thing with Ray Rice's wife? She married the guy after he hit her (and both were likely intoxicated). Doesn't she have a financial interest in him still getting his NFL salary?

Yeah. Which probably played a big role in her posting (to Instagram, I think, but not 100%) about all the people trying to ruin their happiness by kicking Ray out of the NFL despite all his hard work immediately after his suspension was made indefinite and Baltimore released him.

Absolutely she does, which is probably part, if not most of the reason she was so involved in the 'apology' and on twitter after the video came out.

Maybe I am way off, but in my mind there are only 2 possible reasons she married Rice after being beaten by him.
1. Battered wife syndrome
2. Money, as in she now owns half.

Part of the reason "the people" are the plaintiffs in criminal cases, not only the victim?

I have to look at the Rice case from his wife's eyes.

Let's forget about the "but I love him" crap for a minute.
Let's say she truly believes he can, through therapy/counseling, never get violent with her again. Why would she want her families over $8 million salary for this year go to basically zero?

Of course that's why "the people" are the plaintiffs in cases, because especially with wealthy defendants the victims have a financial stake in the outcome.

Great point. Punish him by running him (says the babies momma's)

That's complete bullshit...boot him from the NFL and tap his extensive personal savings investment portfolio...you know the one ALL thugger athletes start the minute they start making millions.

NFL has taken Tiernan's advice and booted AP...about time they started listening to the smartest guy on the OC.

The NFL (ie: GODell) has done nothing. This has been all on Minnesota, who've had to apparently make decisions on AP without input from a commissioner who apparently is hiding in his office until everything blows over.

The Vikings laid out the punishment which includes him keeping his full salary. He's getting paid to go away so they can recoup sponsors and let the legal process sort it out.
