Rumors running wild on twitter.
Reports are he spun out another driver. That driver got pissed and was on the track gesturing at Tony's car. Tony then revved him engine and the back of the car fishtailed hitting the other driver. Supposedly that driver has died. Race is cancelled and police are investigating. People are arguing if it was intentional or not.

Apparently the other driver was a 17 year old
That sounds gruesome
http://deadspin.com/reports-tony-stewart-ran-over-opposing-driver-during-1618893708"I know Tony could see him. I know how you can see out of these cars. When Tony got close to him, he hit the throttle. When you hit a throttle on a sprint car, the car sets sideways. It set sideways, the right rear tire hit Kevin, Kevin was sucked underneath and was stuck under it for a second or two and then it threw him about 50 yards."

If that's the actual video, I find it hard to feel sorry for the guy. He was literally in the middle of the track.

Also, I don't follow NASCAR because it's boring as fuck, but why was Tony Stewart racing whatever the hell those cars are on a dirt track the night before a NASCAR race?

Those are sprint cars and from what this article says, they compete in different types of racing for enjoyment and I would assume the extra cash.Mulva;1642779 wrote:Also, I don't follow NASCAR because it's boring as fuck, but why was Tony Stewart racing whatever the hell those cars are on a dirt track the night before a NASCAR race?

Bizarre that whoever pays him in NASCAR allows that to happen.Mohican00;1642781 wrote:Those are sprint cars and from what this article says, they compete in different types of racing for enjoyment and I would assume the extra cash.

He broke a leg running sprint cars last year, nothing in his contract at least, plus he owns his own car in NASCAR so he basically just has to run it by himself
Regardless of his intent last night I don't see how it doesn't end up with a manslaughter charge

WAS AT SPEEDWAY AND RIGHT NEAR TONY STEWARTS RACE HAULER.AFTER HE CAME IN HE HAD THE CREW CHAGE HIS RIGHT REAR TIRE .THEY ENDED UP PUTTING A LEFT ONE ON. COPS WERE TOLD ABOUT IT SO HOPEFULLY THEY DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. HE ALSO HAD A GO PRO CAMERA ON HIS CAR HOPEFULLY THEY CONFISCATE THAT ALSO BEFORE THAT GETS DESTROYED. HEARD THE YOUNG DRIVER DIDN'T MAKE IT AND I HOPE IT'S NOT TRUE BUT THEY WOULDN'T BRING TONY OUT UNTIL ALL OTHER HAULERS WERE GONE .ALOT OF POLICE AROUND HIS HAULER ALONG WITH HIS PERSONEL SECURITY. HOPE IF THIS IS ALL TRUE WHAT HAPPENED ON THE TRACK THAT HE DOESN'T GET AWAY WITH IT. HE FINALLY LET HIS TEMPER GET THE BEST OF HIM........

Tony Stewart is a POS and deliberately hit him, but that dude is idiot for going so far out onto the track. I'm sure a new rule will be made because of this.

Accident. First you have to understand how Sprint cars work. They don't work like normal cars. On a sprint car, when you mash the gas, it's setup so the back end of the car fishtails out. IMO, Tony saw the kid coming to confront him, he saw him, so he mashed on the gas to get away (pretty common), when he did, the ass end got away from him more than expected and struck the kid. They get out of their cars all the time. Just to point at the driver that wrecked them, throw something at them, whatever. Just to show the driver that they are pissed at him.Fab1b;1642797 wrote:There is no doubt he hit that dude on purpose!

So far he's racing. Who knows. To be a race car driver, you already gotta be in a fucked up state of mind. Maybe that's his escape for 4 hours or something. With that being said, I think it's bullshit he's racing today too.Rotinaj;1642798 wrote:And he is racing today. Yea, he seems really broken up about it.....

I'm not a Tony Stewart fan at all. But I do not think this is intentional. Kid goes to the middle of the track with a BLACK suit on, on a dark racing surface, with dim lighting. Even under caution these cars are doing 35-50 MPH. I doubt Tony ever even saw him until it was too late. The reason the car went right is because of the impact, not because he swerved. Any one that knows anything about sprint cars knows these cars don't weigh much, and the front wheels especially are sensitive to being hit.The saddest part to me is that the spin out wasn't even Tony's fault, it was the kids. So it never should have happened.

I agree with Webfire on this. Also while running Sprint cars you have to keep revving the engines like that to keep them running
