Apparently nobody wanted to start this series, so I'll get it up here.

Good news...the Tribe is all over Texas tonite...12-1 in the 7th. Danny Salazar with another good outing. The Tribe has pounded out 16 hits in the first 6 innings.

Zach McCallister was DFA'd today....as it is after the trade deadline, it is essentially an outright to Columbus.

T.J. House has been recalled from Columbus to pitch tomorrow and will face the beat up Rangers' Miles Mikolas...ERA north of 8.50

Love seeing another good outing out of Salazar. It is hard not to get excited about the potential 1-2-3 of Kluber/Salazar/Bauer all pitching to their potential.

I applaud the tribe's recent dealings. Not just a salary dump. Looking forward to seeing FL in September.

Truth......but it does have the bonus of dumping salary ,too. That means more money for the Dolans....and maybe a little more to spend next year. I wonder if the Tribe will have any interest in going to re-acquire Masterson....at a much reduced cost.

Me either. Bad, bad move. I guess people forget about him leaving Cleveland to make an additional 3% over his Indians offer. I can think of 10 people more deserving, starting with Nap Lajoie, Lou Boudreau and maybe Bob Lemon who never left Cleveland..

Is there really much of a difference between what LeBron did and what Thome did?

I have no problem with the statue because I don't think everyone is required to be loyal to a fault like most old midewsteners do (just a personal observation, I know WAY too many people my dad's age and older that would rather get fucked over than break from blind loyalty.. happens more in midwest and south than northeast or west). Plus, that's free agency in sports. To heep a guy 10 years in a row at all is unheard of anymore. It's not like he napalmed a bridge back to Cleveland, he's gone pretty out of his way to stay close with the area/team. In addition, in hindsight it's hard to fault anyone leaving for money while Dolan was the owner.

Also, he signed a one day contract and officially retired as an Indian.

Apparently Giambi also decided to change his number for the rest of the year to honor him as well.

We are talking a frieking statue here. Him and Bob Feller. You don't have a problem with that? I'm OK with Thome being a HOFer and an Indian HOFer. But he shit on Cleveland the same way LeBron shit on Cleveland. Thome was offered big cash to stay here and he opted to make 90 million instead of 85 million.

If you're gonna stick Thome's statue up then you better stick a Manny statue up as well.

I know for a fact neither Manny nor Thome wanted to leave. They were forced by the players union. Cleveland made the offer they did, and reading between the lines, they did so knowing the players union would force them out if town. They never intended on paying either of them.

The players union forcing them to sign the biggest deal on the table is straight from you know who (at least some of you do). The second part about Cleveland knowing it and this giving offers to appease the fans, is speculation on my part.

...don't forget the contract was an extra year......which made it worth over a $100 million more.

The team has a statue from that era of greatness,...Bob Feller. The statue from the latest era of greatness will be Jim Thome, although you could argue Omar Vizquel and I would have to agree with you.

Huge difference. I think there is a level of understanding what sports is nowadays, and with that, exactly where Cleveland sits in the scheme of things. Jim Thome left for more money, but he never embarrassed the fans or the owner, or the city, and he did it with a genuine tear in his eye and appreciation for his years here.

Besides, there is good karma in forgiveness and in coming home. What was once ours and lost, has now returned. :)

Not buying for a minute that the union forced Thome to leave. Bad excuse. There is nothing in any CBA stating anything like that. Moreover, had Thome stayed, that would have cost absolutely zero for future CBA's and free agency. No, Thome spewed all the "I'm staying here for the home town discount" for months only to change his mind for a few more million. That...in and of itself...is good enough for me to say no to any statue.
