I'm not a big garage sale person but the wife sometimes get in the mood to garage sale and sometime we just randomly will stop at a garage sale.

our best buy was an old dirty wooden box with a lid. I bought it to store wood in it out in the garage. But once we got it home I cleaned it up I found that it was a old cedar trunk. I bought it for $20.00 had it refinish and sanded inside for $125.00 we now have a great, very large cedar chest to store blanket, sweater and linen.

I did buy a portable table saw for $5.00 replaced the cord been using it for years.

What at your best garage sale purchase?

Every year, the retirement home in our community has a "garage sale." Years ago, I bought a reclining chair in very good condition for $5.

I don't shop at garage sales because I'm not poor and tacky.

Nice find. Person was either desparate to get rid of it or just plain dumb. :)

Nice. I let my girlfriend go to these things with her mom. Not my cup of tea but a saavy shopper can find some diamonds in the rough.

Just today I bought for $100 bucks a XZ2 Ford Escort. Hasn't ran for a year and needs the water pump replaced but figured why not. I can either scrap it or trade the car to my drug dealer for a few ounces of weed easily enough.

You don’t shop at garage sale because you don't have any extra money to piss away

True, just the opposite. You have money because you don't piss it away paying top dollar when you can get it for less.

I have bought a lot of gold necklaces, rings, and coins at yard sales for cheap. I did get a 1903s $5 liberty half eagle gold coin in a box of coins at a yard sale once. It is probably my best find. Its not in the best shape but still worth more then I paid for it.

At the moment I'm optimistic I can only spend a few hundred bucks and have a decent little front wheel drive car.

$10 pinball machine when I was 12. I had to have made 1k on quarters alone with that thing just sitting in my parents basement growing up. Drunk people can not resist a pinball machine and were too stupid to realize you could have just turned it off arcade mode and played for free lol

Maybe he'd rather spend his income on air conditioning.
