I understand the importance of getting drunks off of the road, But on the other hand check points are a crock of shit. They pull over 5 or 6 hundred cards and issue a couple DUI's, a dozen seat belt violations, and one or two "outstanding warrants".
Is it worth pulling over that many people using that much police/man power to write a couple Tickets?
Here is a link for a guy in Parma that held up a sign warning of a check point, and he was sited for "obstructing police business". SMFH.

The fact that you can be detained at random without probable cause is reason enough that this should be considered an illegal search.

I have a right to go from Point A to Point B without being stopped. And they stop you without probable cause. Seems like a blatant violation of the 4th amendment, but for some reason the Supreme Court says it doesn't.

I have no problem with them, especially since they are announced. If you're stupid enough to drink and drive, and least be smart enough to look and see if, when and where these checkpoints are/will be.

They have to give notice because of the intrusion of your rights. It's an exception** to the illegal search doctrine.

I've never really had to deal with them. They were always in Boardman or Canfield rather than Liberty (or Girard or Hubbard if I randomly ended up there that night lol). They usually publish it in the local paper and make psa's on the local radio stations a week before..other than that, I assume you Google "sobriety checkpoints in ???" and you can find out.lhslep134;1627753 wrote:

I don't have a problem with them as long as they are announced. I don't drink and drive and usually will be the one in my group of friends to offer to DD if needed.
