Tribe got a great extra innings win to salvage a split and take the season series versus Boston.

They now host Angels for 4, with a chance (though slight, as Tigers and Royals play 4) to host the Tigers next weekend for 1st. Hopefully Tito keeps the guys focused and not looking ahead to the Tigers. I know series wins in 4-gamers are really tough, but the Tribe is so prone to hot streaks, I'm hoping for 3/4 in this one.

Home cookin' ! It doesn't get any easier with the Angels and Tigers coming to town. Bauer and Weaver square off tonite.....need a stellar effort from the rookie.

Somewhat ironic that Swisher gets the winning hit...a HR in the 11th after we talk sh** about him. ;)

Well, this is pretty much exactly what I said about his bad start. The dude could end up hitting over .300 the rest of the way, but only get to .260...so we would hear the bitching about his bad hitting all season. Even if he is red hot.

Coming to town Saturday and Sunday for the games vs the Tigers. Saturday they are inducting Omar into the Tribe HOF. Looking forward to it. First games of year for me.

The Angels are only 12-5 in the 17 games Weaver has started in his career against the Tribe. So we have that going for us.

Precautionary after he hit his head against Johnny Mac's knee while trying to break up a double play.

Pretty good outing for Bauer. Carrasco goes the final 2 and a 3rd for I believe his first career save. A win. Only two pitchers used and neither were named Shaw or Allen. And Santana hit a homer.

Pretty good night for the Tribe...as long as Brantley is OK.

Old school relief pitching the way it used to be done all the time. Elroy Face was 17-1 as a reliever in 59 logging well over 100 innings. Same thing with Looie Arroyo who came in all the time in the 7th inning bailing out Whitey Ford. He logged well over 100 innings in relief per year. Even Bruce Sutter who was considered the first exclusive closer came in a whole bunch in the 8th inning.

Gotta give it to Tito. If a closer sucks, he gets benched. We saw it last year and again this year. No way does Jose Mesa pitch the ninth in game 7 against the Marlins with Tito calling the shots. We had 4 setup guys that were pitching lights out that season. Hargrove blew game 7...and a championship.

We may yet salvage something out of Carlos Carrasco....he really stepped up when the team needed to give the back end of the pen a rest.

Carasaco has been a beast for over a year now out of the pen. Love it.

Luis Arroyo- Only played 4 full seasons. only 1 was as a reliever and over 119 innings. (he also had a losing record all but 2 years of his 8 partial years)
Roy Face- only 4 seasons out of his 16 were over 100 innings pitched. 2 of those involved at least 10 games started.
Mariano Rivera- Played 19 seasons and is a hall of famer only pitching 75 innings per year.

I stand by my assertion earlier that Tito has jinxed him.

We are 13 AB's and counting without a hit since the benching.

Carrasco and Bauer were clutch last night as before the game the radio guys essentially said the entire bullpen is unavailable.

Our pitching as a whole has been outstanding of late. We aren't exactly bopping the ball, and are pulling out tight, low scoring games.

I was thinking our series with Detroit might be for first place, but KC is smoking hot right now and may actually be our biggest competition for the division.

Verlander is freaking toast right now, and the Motor City Kitties don't scare me nearly the way they used to. The bottom has completely fallen out of that team.

Ah, so this is why I haven't seen any posts by Classy about the Tigers in some time. They aren't playing well. Explains everything.
