Sorry, but none of that is true in my circle of friends. I had to move back in with my parents when I was 23, and it was my very last resort. I was working two (shitty) jobs at the time and still couldn't afford to be on my own. I was embarrassed, and eventually made my situation worse by waiting so long to ask them for help. Once I did move back in with them (which I came to love, FWIW), I worked two jobs again while still trying to find a better one. I don't know a single recent college grad that thinks they should start at the top of the ladder. Most would be happy with any job with a salary large enough to service their student loans and potentially move out of their parents basement. Now, I have no doubt that there are some grads who think they should start off making $100k per year but that is the exception, not the rule.

Then don't get a degree in something basic at a school that costs $100,000. I love the people who go for a generalized degrees then expect to get a high paying job to start. I run a store, am an Army Reservist and since I have free time in the AM I go into a local factory across the street from 6-8AM 4-6 days a week for some extra spending cash on the side.
