Congratulations Hillsdale, you made the playoffs. Now you get to go on the road to play Kirtland, who has been in 3 straight state championship games and won 2 of them.

Tough first round draws, for sure. Good luck to the WCAL schools!
Chippewa and Hillsdale's regions are both WAY more competitive than D4 region 12. Be glad you are in region 12!! ...and good luck!

Region 19 is loaded, for sure. Region 16 has Coldwater and then everybody else.

A bunch of Orrville fans think Orrville should join the WCAL. Please let them know this is not an option because we have never been invited. Thank you.

Same as I said over there....Now would be a great time for the WCAL to expand.

WCAL eastern division: Orrville, Chippewa, Waynedale, Dalton, Tuslaw, Rittman.

WCAL western division: Norwayne, Northwestern, Hillsdale, Triway, Loudonville, Smithville.

If I was king...I would make a proclamation that this should be done! lol!

This would be a great league! for all sports...easy scheduling, natural rivalrys, good gates. No downside to this.

I am strongly against conferences with divisions/tiers. Just pick 8 teams and be done with it, IMO.

Look at the PAC, awful conference this season. The WCAL was average this season. What's wrong with a more competitive league, and preparing teams for playoff play?

So are you all saying Orrville is and can join with open arms. Why does our AD not do this then? Because it is not real.....Look I am not in any way a supporter of our AD but even he could get this right if it was on the table. Fact is that we are not welcome and there is no spot for Orrville.

Well to be fair, we, or I atleast am not the AD. So I can't invite Orrville.

No it has never been offered. Does not mean it could not be discussed and it would seem to me that having the same Super at two of the WCAL schools would be an advantage. It probably require Orrville to come with their hat in their hand and beg a little. I have talked to our administration about adding Loudonville and Orrville and they feel there is a lot of dislike from other WCAL schools for Orrville that would hinder it. The key IMO is what is left of the MBC and Loudonville in particular, they have to do something, they can not remain semi-independent. Personally, I like a big school/little school format.

Lets not forget all the other sports that weigh on a decision like this. Our girls sports are pretty damn good right now and we have several classes coming in middle school football with pretty good size and talent. The decision should not and will not be made prematurely by the WCAL decision makers just because Orrville is having a few bad years of football. I think the WCAL could be a good fit for Orrville and the league would be better for it, but it ends there. Never will happen!

I think Loudonville would be a great fit in the WCAL... There's nothing wrong with a 9 league team. They would definately give the league an upgrade in almost all the sports.

I don't think loudonville is a bad fit at all, but let's not act like loudonville is some dynamo. They were awful in football for years until the last couple. They were good in hoops when schlabach was there pre-Hiland for a couple years. Not good otherwise.

I agree and I believe they will be OK next year but after that a couple off lean years. But who knows, most on here had Hillsdale 4th or worse in the conference and I would not have disagreed before scrimmages. Besides who has been a dynamo?

I wasn't implying everyone else has been great across the board. I just was sort of disagreeing with the idea that Loudonville would somehow improve the league. I think they are very similar to everyone else in the wcl competitively.

It's bad enough travelling to Hillsdale from the other side of Wayne County, and what rivalry does Loudonville bring? Orrville and Triway are one thing and I wouldn't mind them in, , but I think 8 is enough.

I wasn't sure if you were kidding or not about the travel from one side of Wayne County to the other. Have you ever had to travel to CVCA, Tusky Valley, and Indian Valley for a conference game, 3+ times a year for football, basketball, and baseball? It's a pain. The silver lining is the Skyline Chili on Steels Corners Rd exit where CVCA is. :)

To put it in perspective, the shortest drives for Triway in the PAC are Tuslaw (23 miles, 26 minutes), Fairless (30 miles, 36 minutes).

The longest drive for the WCAL (Chippewa to Hillsdale) is 36 miles, 43 minutes. Norwayne/Dalton to Hillsdale is 30 miles, 34 minutes. The longest drive in the PAC is 72 miles (1 hr 22 mins) from Indian Valley to CVCA. It's 53 miles (1 hr 10 mins) from IV to Triway.

What I'm saying is... consider yourself lucky. : thumbup:

Triway should have kept a good thing when they had it. :D

They were IN the WCAL until 1970....BUT they left for ...umm greener pastures? I think 3 leagues later, they have a descent fot but travel time.

I'm not kidding...but I do consider it "lucky" compared to what you might have to travel. But your travel problem does not have to be mine. I said I wouldn't mind Orrville or Triway, especially since we play each other in a lot of sports anyway.....I just don't see value in adding Loudonville, and adding another 50 + minute drive.

My question is if Orrville were to join the WCAL, and continue to be horrid. What's their next option?
