In my prime 255. I was about 190 at the time. I'm 6'3 with long arms so bench was never my strong suit plus I was a basketball player and never wanted to bulk up.
Now I'd be lucky to get my weight. 225. I mainly do cardio, low weight ,high reps.

I'm 5'9 with pretty short arms so that was never a problem for me! I was always just amazed that this guy who was the same height, almost same weight, and weaker than me could look alot more ripped.BR1986FB;1611959 wrote:Amen brother. I know a lot of dudes who are half my size and much shorter than me that can press a lot more weight. Easier to push the bar 3 inches when you have T-Rex arms than it is for someone like me with monkey arms. All about leverage.

Looking ripped is all about diet. Not saying you eat poorly but that, along with genetics, plays a part. I can eat super strict and will never get razor ripped. Skin is too thick.Zoltan;1611972 wrote:I'm 5'9 with pretty short arms so that was never a problem for me! Br, sounds like my weight and conditioning coach in college! He always ripped on me (6'5" 280) for not being as strong as a lot of the other linemen. I played DT. He always bragged on those guys you described that was only moving the weight 6 inches because their chest was so thick and their T-rex arms! lol He wouldnt laught to hard when I easily beat their blocks because the couldnt reach me! I loved pointing that out to him also!BR1986FB;1611959 wrote:Amen brother. I know a lot of dudes who are half my size and much shorter than me that can press a lot more weight. One time he had a lift off, who could do the most weight in 3 reps. He condition was you had to grip the bar inside that smooth small line on the bar. Now for T-rex arms that was their normal grip, for me it was probably 2 to 3 inches inside my grip. Basically I was doing a close grip while they were benching! I tried pointing that out but he didnt want to hear it!

Sounds like your coach didn't know much about the science of lifting.redstreak one;1611992 wrote:Br, sounds like my weight and conditioning coach in college! Those little guys can usually move a lot of weight due to that leverage.
That's why many time you see offensive guards at the NFL Combine putting up ridiculous reps with 225 lbs. They have that "T-Rex Syndrome" where your RT/LT's have longer arms, to keep away defenders (O-Linemen in your case) and usually don't have big bench numbers. If an offensive tackle is putting up big reps on the bench, it's a bit of a red flag because defenders might be able to get into his upper body much easier than a longer armed version.

Highest I got in high school was 375, I weighed 185. Did sets of 8+ on 250.
Now, nearly 20 years later with a torn rotator cuff and broken opposite shoulder in my past I would be lucky to get my weight up once (195).

I don't "heavy" train that much. I'd like to, but finding the person to heavy train with is the hard part. I was heavy training in the fall (first time in probably 5+ years), and I quickly got to 235, my highest ever. Then both guys I was working out with went and had kids! #ruraltownproblems.vdubb96;1611966 wrote:Seems like everyone (even ETB) is stronger than CC so far. Good work Fellas!

I lift at lunch with my Service Director, who lifts heavy. Thats the only reason I've gotten mine up as high as it is. Which is a lot for me. P90X and all that stuff got me in shape and lean but didn't prepare me to lift heavy thats for sure.ernest_t_bass;1612024 wrote:I don't "heavy" train that much. I never was a big lifter at all. Honestly my max was only around 225-230.

Haha I don't think I ever even attempted a squat. I went to Reynoldsburg and at the time we had one of the best weight room and trainers in the whole state. I know Michigan actually interviewed our strength coach for their football program but he declined the job because his son was still in high school.
