Also, isn't he a convicted felon? There are way too many other people out there with more money, more experience, better reputations, etc. that the other owners would want as business partners.
He's a racist and woman beater, would be worse than Sterling.

I'm not sure your point since Laley said they weren't the same thing. I agreed... Bc they aren't. Laley said he can't see how judging someone by their skin color is the same as judging by their opinion. It isn't. But it also isn't that simplistic. You don't judge someone simply bc their skin tone is black. You don't have a problem with the color black. It's all the stereotyping that goes on beyond the fact that they're black. Same as it's all the stereotyping that goes on bc someone is a certain religion or background or whatever. And that's where the comparison is drawn.
You're using the umbrella term "stereotyping" to couch Sterling's racism as more simple discrimination. You are describing Sterling's racist words and calling them discriminatory when they are indeed racist.

Like I said, for you to not acknowledge that you're equating racism and discrimination is asinine. It's so obvious to everyone except you.

I think the problem probably has to do with semantics since we don't really have a word that means someone hates you because of your religion.

No doubt. He's said worse things on 24/7 directly into a camera than what Sterling said on tape haha.

Oprah could be a majority owner. That would be good for the NBA. Mayweather is a thug. No chance for that woman beater.

While I do still really enjoy the playoffs, this I sort of agree with.

Though I'm sure he would've preferred something different, Adam Silver has Donald Sterling to thank for making the NBA relevant again. Aside from the playoffs, which I still watch because, well, it's competitive basketball, for me and many others I know, the NBA died a long time ago. And I was a HUGE fan at one time.

What are some other actions that could get an owner banned? 1- make a private racist comment.. 2- DUI? Nah. 2- throw wife down stairs? Nah it's just a women 2- touch a little boy? Nah we still buy Michael Jackson albums.... So other than a racist comment what would you say would put an owner in jeopardy of losing his team?

Homophobic comments possibly could have you lose your team, and all serious crimes.

However, at the same time, anything that tarnishes the league, and the other owners regardless of what you said will probably cause you to lose your team.

DUI is nothing . Mayweather will never own the team because he is a woman beater. If you touch little boys you are getting kicked out of the NBA ,even in this country. You probably read the Blaze and listen to Glen Beck.

I'm not sure who would want to go in with Floyd on the team. He's wealthy beyond our wildest dreams (except Sleeper), but he can't afford it on his own.

Mayweather is not in the galaxy of wealth of the people who will end up getting the team. No chance for every reason possible.

Interesting stuff coming out such as rumors the players forced Silvers decision by threatening to strike, and also that there are many more hours of tapes and this will only get worse for Sterling.

How do you force a sale? He could demand more than it is worth and make the asking price more than anyone would pay.

Sterling will not get to determine the value at which he sells. The bidders will submit bids with a price and the league will choose the highest bidder who fits the mold they want in a owner. Let's be honest here, it's going to be a black person.

It's in the NBA constitution. The NBA will sell the team to the highest bidder. Like an auction. It's the law. It is written. The scumbag has no choice . He will garner a billion dollars for a 12.5 million investment from a 1981 purchase. Not sure what the 12.5 million would be worth today but it would not be anywhere near what the value of a billion dollars are today.
The maximum of 2.5 million fine is a drop in a bucket for him,but the NBA needs to get rid of this guy point blank.

I hope his wife who is of the same cloth will not be able to inherit the team or any other family member. This man has a history of unethical behavior,a very long list. You can't discriminate like he does in America today and you shouldn't be able to so.

The problem with the NBA is that the season is just too damn long and involves too much travel to guarantee quality all year, but there's too much money to be made so there's no push to reduce the schedule. If teams played as hard throughout the season as they do in the playoffs, half the team would be burned out midway through the season.

While its annoying to most of us, this is unprecedented.

A league in America forcing out an owner over racist remarks. It isnt really a dead horse yet. One of the biggest things to happen in pro sports in history, and its 5 days old...

Marge Schott was basically forced out for racist remarks.

That's all true and the same could be said of hockey. When half the teams or darn near half the teams in the league makes the playoffs. It makes the regular season not worth watching. At least in baseball every game counts because onle a very few make the post season . The NFL is good during the reg season too because it's hard to make post season.

LOL....if he has to sell the team he will have to pay a capital gains tax of 20%....$100 to 200 million depending on the sale price.....as opposed to the asset passing to a family member upon his death.

I'm not exactly sure of all the laws, but $100 million seems to be excessive considering that only feelz were hurt.
