What if 3/4 of the owners don't vote sterling out? Then what?

That's an issue that people sometimes struggle with on these types of discussions, that there has to be a good guy and a bad guy. She's a kept woman which is another name for whore, and he's a racist slumlord. No white hats to be found.

@WojYahooNBA: Several groups with desire to purchase Clippers are already stepping forward, with a bidding war expected to exceed $1 billion for Clippers.

Good question.

But then the onus falls onto the owners and it will get out who voted what, and those guys could see blowback as well.

He should have been, does the fact he wasn't earn him a lifetime pass?

It's kind of funny that sterling will be a billion dollars richer soon, and that's supposed to be his punishment lol

@ArashMarkazi: Sterling confirmed to Silver that was his voice on the tapes. He did not convey any remorse or any other feelings.

In case people still want to doubt it was him.

Then he can have all the downside of owning the team with none of the benefits (like even being able to go to a game).

I thought fines were for law breakers ?? We can now fine people for (racist) remarks they make. Wow, what a slippery slope we are on ...... I wonder what derogatory comments about progressives will bring -- $10 million ??

I think what rec meant is why not do this 15 years ago?

The answer is obviously because the black voice wasn't as loud back then as it is now.

His ego is taking a hit, which is worse for an 80+ year old man who is already FU rich.

Part of me hopes that he doesn't get voted out of the league and/or he fights the ruling in a legal battle with the NBA. Anyway, I got my popcorn out and I'm ready to watch a billionaire and former lawyer get to work.

@AlexKennedyNBA: Adam Silver: "If a player in the future doesn't want to play for the Clippers and is under contract, we'll deal with that." Interesting.

This decision today was in the best interest of Adam Silver. That is the primary reason for the decision. Make no mistake about it. Racism is alive and well. People will just attempt to be more careful about who they share their views with after this.

The NBA just looks dumb here. Donald Sterling is the same person today as he was when Elgin Baylor accused him of running a "plantation" and when he bought the team three decades ago.

If the owners don't vote him out, he won't have a choice IMO. No player is going to play for him as long as his name is behind the franchise.

That is part of his body of work, and it is costing him now. No way he gets this punishment if this were a first time offense.

Not sure many people here, if any, actually didn't think it was Sterling.

Really? I don't see CP3 and Griffin staying at home when millions are on the line. I also don't see any player turning down the millions to play for the team either.

You thought incorrectly (surprise). Private organization may set up fine schedules for whatever infractions they wish.
