The word choices bothered me, but I thought worse was the way he was talking AT these different groups. And the gross oversimplification that ignore all the progress that has been made. Blacks may be disproportionately poor, but being a slave to uncle sugar is purely an ignorant/lazy thing.
He's really not saying anything different than most do about welfare and big gubmit, he's just a dumb hick that's really bad at communication who doesn't know how to sanitize his comments so as not to offend.
I don't think he's a racist or hates those groups he's just hopelessly ignorant. I tend to think of someone with biased or prejudice (both of which are pretty natural for everyone) as bigots (that portion stemming from basic ignorance), but people who act on that to cause harm are racists.
