I understand that it's wrong to make up a military history (or some other heroic background). But I find it pretty sad that this guy has decided to make a name for himself by outing people. I'm of the opinion that life generally sorts things out in a relatively fair way. I also believe most people who push a fake seal background are probably mentally off as well. My point is this guy seems like a pompous jerk and I doubt that's his intention. Making such a big deal out of uncovering some frauds is not good bang for the buck. He would have us believe there is an epidemic of fake seals out there. No there isn't.

THere are plenty of heroes in the military. THere are plenty of heroes in other walks of life as well.

He doesnt go after the schmucks who just say shit in a bar or whatever, he mostly goes after guys who go too far and many use the SEAL background as a way to pad their resume's and make money off of something they havent done.
He is a good guy, met him once a number of years ago. He now runs a business where you can train like a Team guy if you want.

I see your points. I'm sure he is a good guy. If I were a Seal, I wouldn't like it if someone was impersonating. It just seems petty. There may be a lot of people masquarading as former Seals. But I don't believe there is an epidemic of those people actually causing damage from it - not in any meaningful way. Just my opinion.

I agree. If someone does it and just tells someone they are one, that seems like no biggie. But using that to get themselves appearances, medals in their hometowns, etc.. That is taking it too far.

I saw a guy get outed this July at red white and boom. He was in marine blues and was drinking. A guy, who clearly was in the military, approached him to get on him for drinking in uniform in public. After a short argument the guy started asking the guy in uniform questions and he basically couldn't answer any of them correctly. His buddy outed him about 10 minutes later. It was extremely awkward.
