I'd love to see Lennon and the Beatles in a small club. In fact if I could go back in time, I'd catch them during one of their Hamburg stints circa 1962.

Lennon / The Beatles Kurt Cobain / Nirvana and Cash. I'm not sure I could choose between those 3 but I'll say the Beatles since MCCartney was amazing at Bonnaroo last year.

I'd go Queen. If you look solely at a band's greatest hits album, their's is my favorite. And he was supposedly awesome live.

I like his style and definitely the ballads he had. I'm an old school country kinda guy. I liked Cash before Cash was cool (at least with the people where I grew up and knew). Then, Cash became a lot of peoples' favorite when Hurt came out.

Yeah, me too. I don't dislike his version but it fucking irritates me to no end when people say it's miles better than the original. Aside from the lower octave piano the music is practically the same, and like it or not he sounds like a man about ready to croak. People put too much value into the sentimentality of itdlazz;1605349 wrote:That's the song that sticks out in my mind where he gets too much praise. I (by far) prefer the NIN version

Depends on the mood I'm in and the venue. For a classy evening covering a variety of genres, Ray Charles & his Symphony would be hard to beat.
Otherwise Freddie Mercury & Queen for the performance value and probably the most songs I like out of this group.

Too - Cash broke a lot of new ground for a "country artist", and never really stopped expanding his reach. That's very, very unusual - in the country music world, stepping into other musical styles is akin to an Arab having a beer with an Israeli.OSH;1605345 wrote:I understand your opinion. He's definitely not for everyone.
I like his style and definitely the ballads he had. I'm an old school country kinda guy. I liked Cash before Cash was cool (at least with the people where I grew up and knew). Then, Cash became a lot of peoples' favorite when Hurt came out.

                                1. Beethoven - Simply would like to hear a true classical music genius perform live.
2. Jimi Hendrix - Phenomenal unorthodox guitarist.
3. Ray Charles - Enjoy the blues and Ray was one of the best.
4. Michael Jackson - At least before he weirded out and turned white. :RpS_w00t:

Ehhh...you have to consider the song wasn't a huge hit for NIN for a reason. It was the fifth single off of The Downward Spiral.pmoney25;1605358 wrote:I like NIN but even Reznor has said that song belongs to Cash now.

The more I think about it...Beethoven.
Mostly because, its Beethoven. He was doing things musically that no one could imagine and had a vision so much broader than what was seen at the time, moreso than others who have been influential.

Truth. Shame on all us uncultured poor people that would pass-up Beethoven for any of these others...but it really does depend on mood and the venue. Even more interesting if you consider what age YOU want to be when seeing them. If I'm 50, I want to see Beethoven at Carnegie Hall. If I'm 21, probably Hendrix at the House of Blues.Laley23;1605426 wrote:The more I think about it...Beethoven.
And, um, Pavarotti should have been on this list. Then we'd have a debate.
