Envelopes with checks for $18,200 sitting by the door - will take it to the post office this evening. Gotta pay everyone this year - but we've known it was coming since January 2013 (inheritance matter). At least we got to keep it for 14 months before we cashed out enough to pay the bill- we left it in the investment account and gained another $3900 as a result. It was a great year for stocks...
Of course, I have to pay taxes on THAT next year..:RpS_angry:

I wouldn't pay it. Just have the IRS take it out of your grandkid's refund 50 years from now.mucalum49;1604852 wrote: Received a CP2000 form for my year 2012 taxes. Has anyone received this? The IRS said I received $2k more from securities than I really did and they wanted to tax me $1,250 on the amended return. I have all the account statements and tax forms showing information in my favor. I was just curious if anyone else ever received this and how difficult it was to have the IRS admit the original filing was correct.

We are getting around $1,300 from fed and 3 states.
I finished these earlier than I did last year. Beginning of February may be my time to do taxes every year.

Did my taxes in mid-January and they were accepted the first possible day. Got about $900 back from federal and $200 from Ohio. Already spent.

Own a small business. Had to pay quite a bit. But oh gotta love those customers that pay cash. They helped take care of the taxes plus helped to fill my 3rd gun safe in a year. God Bless the USA.

If they show an additional 2K in security sales, then chances are you had them. They may have been in a separate account or your tax pro didn't report them, but even if you didn't report them, you should have some basis in them and that would negate any taxes owed.

My owing taxes was due to my own mistake when filling out my new hire forms. That being said I have no issue with getting an interest free loan from the government.like_that;1605718 wrote:Well then hopefully you are not upset when you owe money next tax season.
