Will send this to the politics forum most likely - tax status, we're pissed. Because of international accounting rules we literally paid a double tax for calendar year 2013. We paid the full amount in the UK which is close to 40%, but because it was only withheld and not accrued we still had to pay US tax of 28%. Deloitte says we'll get most of the 28% US back for tax year 2014, but that is a year away, and it is effectively an interest free loan to GOVCO. Assuming of course we actually get it back. And our elected leaders get by with paying only 20%. We literally wrote the biggest check in our lives (even more than our house down-payment) to feed the pigs' trough. Ridiculous.

I don't know about that, but we took it up the rear end. It is ridiculous. Hopefully we'll get it back, but not until next April. I want to kick everyone that created our tax code in the crotch. Some serious roshimbo action.

Our total return was about $7,200. 100% spent towards CC debt, built up paying for a Masters degree.

I know the snobs on here will say I'm doing it wrong, but I don't care. I like a big tax return. Deductions last year:

- 2 kids
- 2 mortgages (interest... sucks)
- Rental home depreciation
- School loans
- School tuition
- Standard job deduction

I actually enjoy making more money every check. But to each his own.

Owed some to Feds, got some back from state. Net about -$128.

Yep, that's how I do things. Or, to better put it, will do things tomorrow. When it comes to shit like this, waiting until the last minute is the only option.

$7200 does not equal $20, so this confuses me.

State-$600 return
Federal-$700 owed

Sending it all out tonight or tomorrow. I did it just about right this year, owe a net of $100.

Got back about $1,800 total from Feds and State. Student loan interest factored into taxes helps me get back a decent return. Although I'd much rather pay then have the debt so it's whatever.

Received a CP2000 form for my year 2012 taxes. Has anyone received this? The IRS said I received $2k more from securities than I really did and they wanted to tax me $1,250 on the amended return. I have all the account statements and tax forms showing information in my favor. I was just curious if anyone else ever received this and how difficult it was to have the IRS admit the original filing was correct.
