Between the twins and James Young (and Poythress), they also had very little passing skills. All year I felt they were loose with the ball, made dumb mistakes on simple curl plays (see the end of the Florida game in the SEC-CG) and were prone to pressure (see the second Arkansas game at Rupp).

It will look completely different next year with Tyler Ullis (as it did with Marquis Teague a few years ago).

Kentucky was arguably the most disappointing team in the country for the 2nd year in a row. Then they made a great run, which, essentially makes it impossible to rip on their season.

Already being "leaked" that Rodney Hood is leaving. And Parker's decision to come tomorrow supposedly.

I sill think he is staying.

Didn't Hood already declare like 2 weeks ago? I thought he was one of the first...

If memory serves, and I could be wrong, but I think Coach K implied he was leaving--and I don't think Hood ever actually declared.

Sounds like Marcus Lee and Willie Cauley-Stein returning will push Dakari Johnson to the NBA. He did re-classify to 2013, and many guys do this to get to the league quicker. He is still 18-years old...and is only a few weeks older than 3 of UK's incoming recruits. There have to be numerous concerns over potential playing time in a crowded front court.

Hood and Parker are both just waiting until after tomorrow's Duke banquet to make their decisions. Hood is gone and, after listening to him discuss the situation on several radio programs this week, I'm increasingly growing skeptical of Parker. He more and more sounds like a kid who just doesn't want to tell his coach and team that he is going to be playing for someone else next year. He really does seem to love college and I think it's been a difficult process for him, but I cannot fault him for accepting a job offer as good as the NBA. I mean, come on.

It was never official.

News also broke awhile ago that Montrezl Harrell was going pro. Welp, yesterday he announced he's staying.

Highly doubt he stopped coaching. They just started doing their own thing, making plays and basically had MUCH better athletes than anyone else. Throw the ball up to the rim, go get it, rebound. It was't brain science. Cal saw it, and let it ride. Who wouldn't at that point.

Fact of the matter is, they were heralded as THE BEST recruiting CLASS ever. Preseason #1 in most polls, talk of going undefeated (and YES Cal bought into that as well). And when it was all said and done, they won nothing, no SEC, no title. They lost, as they did in all their losses, to an inferior team. It is what it is and nothing played out as MOST UK fans, and others around the country thought it was. I'd call that a disappointment.

It's a harsh take, but I'd say the 11 losses is a disappointment. I'll also say that when you get to the Final Four, anything can and will happen. Losing in the title game isn't the overt disappointment of the season. Everything leading up to it is.

In the end though, are we saying that every year 350 D-1 basketball programs are "disappointed?"

As I said earlier, Kentucky just had back to back "the most disappointing team in the country" seasons. But, when you make a title game, I dont care what happened, the season cannot be labeled a bust.

Damn, I wish OSU's season could have been as disappointing as Kentucky's.

Tennessee isn't my team, but they lose Jordan McRae, Antonio Barton and Jeronne Maymon to graduation, Jarnell Stokes to the NBA and now Cuonzo Martin to California.

Meanwhile, Bruce Pearl will be coaching another SEC school.

I actually feel bad for the Vols. One of the few SEC schools who have a fan base that even cares a little...

I believe it was ESPN's Jeff Goodman on twitter. Could be wrong. But Hood is splitsville. He wants the $$$$$ and can't blame him.

I've read where Jeff Goodman has reported that Tennessee is in discussions with Greg Marshall, but not sure on the details. If Tennessee can land Marshall, I wouldn't feel too badly for the Vols. That'd be about as good a hire as they could expect.

You probably know more about it than I do, but that's what I read earlier tonight anyway.

This was Goodman's only tweet about Marshall and Tennessee

@GoodmanESPN: Now the BIG question becomes whether Tennessee makes a run at Wichita State's Gregg Marshall.

Which someone replied to with, "I have heard from a very good source he would only leave for a Blue Blood"

I forget who though.

Then he'll likely be waiting a while. The only blue blood that will have a coaching position open in the next five or six years is probably Indiana, and Marshall will not be their first choice (as you've discussed before, I'm sure Stevens will be and then probably Smart, as far as mid-major level coaches are concerned). But even that is an uncertainty as Crean is still there. And UNC, Duke, Kentucky, UCLA and Kansas could easily be locked up until Marshall is close to 60.

While Marshall is probably wise to wait out a better job than Tennessee at this point, as his stock is as high as it will ever be, he is still the coach at Wichita State in the Missouri Valley. He might very well be able to continue this success on a national level or he may have reached his ceiling there. Only time will tell. He's making more than a million a year, though, in a conference that he'll have no problem dominating for years to come, so, like a guy like Mark Few, maybe that's enough.
