Who do you root for in CFB? And how did you become a Kansas fan, anyway?

I think a fake bandwagon fan would be a guy faking being a bandwagon fan. Which would probably mean that you're not a fan of sports at all and just pretend to be at social gatherings in order to fit in.

Man, that has to suck...

See, fake fan I can understand. I mean, it's pretty 3rd gradish to call someone that, but I can see it.

Fake bandwagon fan, that just confuses me. Because it's either like what heretic said or you're a fake bandwagoner, meaning you're not actually a bandwagon fan you're just a fan.

I confused.

About 7 months ago, Kansas got a commitment from the #1 recruit in the country, so I decided to be a Kansas fan.

Fake, Bandwagon fan. Does that help? Something tells me you don't become an OSU football fan and a Kansas basketball fan just by chance.

But if I am both a fake fan, and a bandwagon fan, wouldn't those slightly contradict? I mean a fake fan, to me, means you're not really a fan you just wear a team hat every now and then. Bandwagon means you're a big fan but only because they are really good.

You're trying to be clever but you just aren't intelligent enough to execute properly. No one respects a OSU football fan and a Kansas basketball fan.

Oh and to address the thread.

OSU - tons of unknowns. I'm expecting another frustrating season, but I'm excited to see some of the new faces. My only wish is to see improvement as the season progresses.

You might get more respect if you do nothing but make random blanket statements about how awesome your team/league is while putting all your energy into trolling other teams and leagues. At least from Sleeper.

You root for a school, not a individual sport. Pro teams don't have that distinction but I guess if I went to OU and majored in something useless I'd do whatever to have a championship team to root for in college.

I'm with you. I had those friends...OSU football fans slobbing over UNC and Duke when hoops season rolled around.

Exactly. When I say "I'm an OSU fan" I mean everything. It's a little weird say "I'm an OSU fan except for basketball, there I like Kansas, but I hate their football program".

People can like whatever they are entertained by. They can be a "fan" of the entire university or just one sport. Worrying about what someone else thinks of that desire is foolishness. What does it matter what the rest of the world thinks of your entertainment choices?

Because I care Con_Alma. As a representative of the greatest university on the planet, it sickens me that fans exploit the prestige of being an Ohio State fan so they can stroke their own egos during each respective season.

Must get tired worrying about people you will never meet and their fandom.

I think it's great that you get to care. Have at it. That doesn't mean others should be concerned what you think of their entertainment choices. It might sicken you but that's for you to deal with. Those that you say are "exploiting" got what they were seeking, entertainment...or "ego stroke". They get to choose that just as you get to choose being sickened.

I have no problem calling out fake fans for what they are. FAKE. Its fun watching the vermin squirm defending their broken fandom.

When you're a one-trick-pony internet act that completely consumes your persona, it's not tiring because you have nothing else.
