Those of you who do know me know that by no means that I'm physical handicap. I can see better than most of the OC, stronger and still very vibrant. That being said I do have a bad knee and sometimes my type II will create a problem. I've been re-evaluated via the VA and was given a medical statement to apply for an handicap parting permit.

It's a nice and convent option but really that seems like I would be abusing the rights of others who really require this privilege. I would be one of those who park in those spots who look no more handicap than anyone one else...

Yep. Just because you have it, doesn't mean you need to use it. Maybe theres a day when you really do need it, then you'll have it.

Does having to walk sometimes cause you an actual hardship? If so, get it, and use it when you aren't physically up to walking.

Use it if it helps you, nothing wrong with that, and most parking lots have ample space for people with or without disabilities. I can understand why one wouldn't want to use it, but the passes are there for a purpose. This seems like one of the right reasons.

Pain yes hardship not really .... I never think of myself as being disabled, there's a lot more people than me that have far more hardships and disabilities I'm very grateful for the physical issue I have.

That shouldn't matter, you aren't disabled, but there if there is a situation that helps you out, use it. That is what it is intended for. People will help out others, that has been our experience.

There are plenty of fat people who get them. They'll be happy to use it if you don't

Get it, but that doesn't mean you have to actually use it. Will be nice to have when you actually do need it.

I agree with you generally, but it isn't easy to ascertain if someone has a disability, even if they appear to be able bodied walking into a place of business. There are many people that have had strokes, or have Parkinson's or some other ailment that isn't readily seeable. No need to judge.

What others have said. You can get it and just keep it in the glove box most days, but if you have to be out and your knee is really flaring up, it'll be there, so you're not limping 400 meters in a Meijer's lot or something like that.
