My 18 year old son wants to go on a 3-4 day road trip over spring break. He asked me to plan something and we will roll with it.

Throw me some ideas. His wrestling career just ended, graduation is just around the corner.

Whatta ya got OC?

If he's into basketball, which I am assuming he is not since his wrestling career just ended, heading to one of the four regional sites -- Indy, Memphis, New York or Anaheim -- of the NCAA Tournament might be fun. It would fit into four days.

For more of an outdoorsman type of adventure, a trip to the Great Smoky Mountains is always an excellent idea. Spent almost every Thanksgiving week in Gatlinburg growing up. It was one of the most memorable traditions of my childhood. Fall in the Smokies is awesome.

This. You don't plan out a road trip. You just jump in the car and go.

This again. Nothing like just driving and seeing what happens.

March 31. Only a few days due to calamity bullshit. He asked for just he and I go on a random trip for 3-4 stress free days. Dont really want to plan anything specific but would kinda of like to have a destination. I've thought about straight east to the ocean, straight south, Manhattan. Just open for ideas. Thought you guys ccould help come through.

Up to you but that's a hell of a lot of time behind the wheel. If only going on a short 3-4 day road trip I'd rather not spend 1/4 of it behind the wheel.

:what: You spend a majority of the time behind the wheel on a road trip. That's why it's called a road trip instead of vacation.

Rte 66 is America and you will see some amazing things. Did it with a cousin of mine a few years back and we had a blast. Stop at roadside diners, some crazy museums and dive bars. Talk to the people in those places and it will be something neither you or him will ever forget.

The thought of driving East to the ocean coast or NYC/Manhattan does not sound like a fun and relaxing 3-4 day trip. You'll be more wore out afterwards than energized.
