I wasn't attempting to define the free market. If you don't understand the above post, you probably should take an econ 101 class and then come talk to me.

I believe in survival of the fittest. In this case, the consumer won and the company lost.

Maybe he's using energy-efficient light bulbs and that explains your discrepancy in electricity costs.
OK let see my bill last month was $187.00 General Usage Service was 87.00 and the Distribution Service was 60.00 and then we add up the additional fee for a grand total of $187.00

Unless you guys General usage is less than $15.00 something not right ???

In this case the Co. said its not worth pursuing, we have hundreds of millions and we will bend this little prick over somewhere down the road and really give him an enema.

My last one was $38.67

$15.61 generation service
$3.45 transmission service
$13.11 distribution service
$4.52 customer charge
$1.11 retail stability rider
$0.87 deferred asset phase-in rider

Used 239/kwh

You must have an incredibly inefficient home, which doesn't shock me in the least bit.

It’s a large 90 year old Colonial, but we have new windows two years ago in 60% of the house and storm windows on the remainder, new gas furnace 6 years ago, all new plumbing and 80 gallon gas hot water, updated insulation in the attic. So I think my home is very efficient for an old historical home. Maybe you live in a shoe and just don't know it.

What your square footage? I'm 3200 sq foot living space (we do heat another part of the basement which would be additional 300 sq ft)

Probably pissing away money with an 80 gallon hot water heater too. Unless you have 15 people taking showers all day.

I'm same age of house as you, just about half the size (it's like 1800 sq ft if you count the finished attic). Second story windows are new.

I have an 80 gallon tank too. It was really a recommendation as a result of the hot tub in the master bath.

at one period three daughter equals 15 people now during the holidays grandkids 6 and family stay over and out of town friends visit so 80 gallon works plus I like long hot showers after a good day at the range :)

If you have use for that size, then it's not a waste. But I've seen people with big tanks just thinking bigger is better. But with water heaters, it's just a waste of money to have one oversized.
