I gave up drinking soda -- except for at a restaurant -- as well. It's been almost five months for me, though. I was basically an addict, thinking that I needed that constant caffeine drip, until I realized that it was doing nothing for me at all. I don't miss it at all and will never drink soda outside of a restaurant again (there's just something refreshing about a fountain Coke with a good burger, so I will have one then).

I gave up drinking beer, unless someone else buys it for me. I just make my wife get the groceries.

Lost any weight from it? Everyone I know that drinks pop that stops, instantly loses 10-15. Or at least it seems that way. I need to stop, but can't get past the 5-7 day mark.

I gave up pop for awhile and it didn't make a difference. Then again, I eat whatever I want so that didn't help.

Use tea/coffee to wean yourself off. Quitting cold turkey will open you up to caffeine withdrawal (headaches).

It's not the caffeine that bothers me. I just really enjoy drinking Pepsi lol.

Plus I hate the taste of coffee and tea.

Agreed.

I don't make resolutions, but my oldest brother suggested a family resolution to spend more time together. We have been having a family day once a month for the last three months. It's typically a pot luck style dinner and we just hang out and have a good time.

I broke all mine, so I could start them up again for that totally meaningful lent thing.

Just kidding. I didn't make any. I think from my perspective, that sort of "pick a day to resolve to do/give up something" thing doesn't work. I prefer to naturally get motivated and start doing it right then. Whenever I take a "I'll live it up UNTIL THIS DAY" mindset, I always found excuses to keep putting it off when that day came.

Actually, I've lost a good 15 pounds since stopping pop. I also started cocaine, so not sure how reliable my pop diet is.

But yeah, I feel great. So much more refreshed in the afternoons, no longer feeling like I am going to die of sleep deprivation around 3 p.m if I don't go get a Big Gulp. Once I reached a couple of weeks without soda, I almost forgot about it. It's at the point now that I never think about it at all. Gatorade is my DOC now.

Coke's probably a lot better for you than brand-name Coke. At least in moderation.
