We leave for mexico thursday a.m. with a connecting flight in Atlanta. Obviously a nice little ice storm is going through there. Has anyone had any experience with getting their flights moved to another location to avoid a storm? Is it something we need to get ahold of our travel agent so see what options we have?

They might do it, but they'll charge you out the ass for it.

I had a flight going to Jamaica changed a few years ago. A tropical storm was going through the area and the trip was delayed two days. Pittsburgh>Orlando>Negril. They just changed the connecting flight from Pitts and used the same charter service from Orlando. No charge.

There is a group of 16 of us going. I'm not sure if we got the travel insurance or not. I'm guessing we did knowing my friends that coordinated the whole thing. Just hoping we get out of this frozen tundra!!!

I wondered if they would change connecting flights.

That was the only major hiccup. We had a large group also and everyone had to leave at times to get to Orlando. All flights to Jamaica were grounded because of the storm, so no choice really.

You might be screwed though. We also went through an agency that handled everything.

The group text that all the women are involved in right now about this is quite hilarious. They are all freaking out, like they expect us men to tell the weather to stop being shitty. They are supposed to be calling our travel agent to see if something can be done. Hopefully all is good.

This is exactly why you book through an agency. The travel agent should be able to take care of everything for you.

The airline may move you. been moved airports before when I called and there was impending bad weather coming. Didn't pay anything. They would rather move you now, then have you stuck somewhere and put you in a hotel and pay you for meals and give you travel vouchers in the future. With an agent, I'm not sure how it works, I'd definitely give them a call though.

Hopefully able to get it all worked out tonight. They wouldn't switch us over yet. They said it's still too early.

I'm planning a trip to Playa Del Carmen next January. I need something to break up this evil winter bullshit.

Hey Auto I did all inclusive in Riveria Maya and Playa they are both basically the same place (only about 10-15 minute difference). From my experience everything was equal but Riveria Maya was cheaper and actually closer to most of the excursions.

Playa is the location for sure....going for a music festival. We don't plan to go all out in regards to lodging.
