If you could - would you attend the Olympics there?

I'd be surprised since Rio is already a major tourist center.

They already had a soccer stadium collapse for the world cup and the rivers there are heavily polluted.

A crane collapsed on top of the stadium. The stadium didn't collapse.

So is the air in China, and their Olympics went pretty well.

The IOC's payday for that selection had to be astronomical. You couldn't pay me to go to Sochi if I were an Olympic athlete.

So Sochi should be a cake walk if that theory holds true...

Sochi should have no issues with air.....

Security tho, I'm sure that our port authorities have things in check for the flights over there or what not, but that would be my greatest concern.

As for things happening in the Olympic village.....remember, you only hear about the top 3 in each event....the other 20 are looking for a piece of ass!

First one of the ccrunner $20 jokes to actually make me laugh.

I think it is starting to get old. Guy is never going to pay up.

Also, I read an article about the shitty conditions yesterday... the yellow water you can't use for anything, the non-toilet-paper-flushing-toilets, the rooms with beds only and nothing else. Hopefully they fix the water situation, but the rest people are stuck with.

I guess this is the kind of thing that happens when those in charge are siphoning hundreds of millions of $$ from construction costs to line their pockets.

Rio will be fine. Its not the whole country who is hosting it like a WC.

Thats like saying NYC will suck because Detroit went bankrupt. One city does not have anything to do with the other when it comes to the Olympics.

Rio is Rio and will continue to attract people from all over the world. Sochi will be the winter version of the 2008 China Summer Olympics.

Totally agree on the Hockey. Also think a lot of the skiing events would be a blast, especially the jump.

If they serve beer
I could really get into the team curling, its one particular competition I'm looking forward to watching on tv.

I think the jumps would be OK to watch for a few minutes.
You just want to look at some of the curling babes!

Many of the speed events I think would suck in person. If you are the end you see the time and compare it, but at least on TV you get to see the splits and see where they are at.

It is almost like watching the 100 meters with one runner going at a time...totally not that fun to watch.

I think Brazil could have problems. The people there are fed up with the government and all the money they have spent on the world cup when hospitals and schools suck. They know the best time to get attention and force the corrupted governments hand is to embarrass them when the world is watching. Things got pretty crazy when the confederations cup was happening, and it wouldn't surprise me to see it during the world cup either.
