Picked up our new puppy Goldendoddle four days ago. Our Golden is 10 years old he not impressed but they are getting along better today. I think Murphy understand this thing not going away anytime soon.
It's been 10 year and I don't know what I was thinking.... I forgot about the sharp puppy teeth, bites on the ankles, potty training and the crying at night ( fixed the crying Murphy sleeps in the same room that stop night time puppy crying).Feed not a problem I get up before the puppy so he eats after I wake him up. Sharing toys is a problem Murphy doesn't want to share. This guy run and jumps for 30 minute and then stops, find a place to sleep for an hour.

Anyone else thinking about getting a new pet or got a new pet for Christmas?

We won't be getting any new pets for a long time, but we did get a new foster dog recently. The poor thing was scared shitless of humans when we brought him home. He still doesn't trust us very much but he's opened up a lot. I can't imagine what he went through as a puppy to be this frightened of humans.

Picked up a small dog shitzu or however you spell the name. People that had him their dog did not get along with him. We took in another irish setter a few months back and the two of them seem to be long lost brothers. They love to play and rough house as much as a small and large dog can. Glad they keep it mainly outside. I really did not think I would like the little dog but he has grown on me and I think we are going to keep him.

My dog and my brother's dog were the same way. So sad.

I would love to get another dog, but I don't see that happening any time soon. Tanner is a jealous little brat, so I don't think he'd be a fan.

My parents had Huskies almost my entire life, so I know my ol' girl doesn't have much time left. Our Yorkie is 10, so she probablh doesn't either. Now the youngest Husky is 4, and the American Eskimo just turned 1, so they have plenty of life left.

My parent's Yorkie lived until he was 17. He died this past May, and my mom was devastated. My dog is half Yorkie, and I would love for him to be around that long. It's not uncommon for them to live into their teens.

Belly, I currently have the same problem... We've had a rescue dog for 11 months now and whenever we get back home after visiting my wife's parents and their 3 dogs he's always depressed for at least a week. So around Christmas we got a 5 week old black lab puppy and he absolutely hates her haha.

We've always made a point of having at least two dogs - we found out that the dogs were happier and better behaved if there was a second one around. The puppies also tended to "civilize" faster with an adult dog from which to learn.

Then things got out of control - Lady D'Friskies started raising Cavalier King Charles Spaniels as a hobby. We currently have five of the little beasts running amok around the place, with a litter on the way in two weeks.

Fortunately, the puppies are all lined up for homes unless our bitch has more than four...

We'd love to get a second dog. Few reasons why we haven't, 1) when we fly off the Island, shipping our dog is our cost, and a 105 pound American bulldog who only 1 airline will ship, costs nearly 800. So a second dog would likely put us over 1000. 2) we are moving in July to texas, we will then move 16 months later somewhere else, then a 1 year residency somewhere, then finally a 3 year move somewhere else. That is just too much moving. And any of those moves could again be across the pond. But we know he is starting to get back to being the dog he was before our daughter was born because now she loves playing with him and she doesn't mind being knocked down here and there. Whereas before we couldn't let him really play.

Yes, I know, red rocket. If you have food, he has wood.
