Posts like this remind me that I really need to use my rep power to pass them out more frequently.

I have been looking for well over a year. When I was offered the position I immediately went to my superiors and told them I was leaving.

I wasn't rude, but I was blunt about it. They wanted to know why, so I told them.

It's better across the board (wage, benefits, career-oriented) so I didn't feel bad at all about telling them.

Only downside is I have to move.

Getting out of Ohio was the best thing I have done career wise.

Where are you moving? Still around Columbus?

Position is in London, OH. Checking out a place this weekend. Back to rural life for me

Screw that... if I were you, I'd just live on the west side of Columbus, or the east side of Springfield (or Dayton). What the hell is there to do in London... nothing.

Edit: Or you could just live in Mechanicsburg, and room with McBurg93.

I don't do anything anyway. The west side of Columbus is also more expensive than London.

I would definitely live in Hilliard rather than London

I'm used to having a short commute. I'm going to be temporarily driving 45 minutes each way and it's going to suck.

Living in Hilliard would still be a decent haul.

I always enjoyed rural life. Growing up, Mansfield was the closest city (35 minutes) and Columbus, Cleveland and Toledo were all 90 minutes away. I would have no problem going back to that now.

I grew up in a rural community about 20 minutes from Dayton. I enjoy city life, but also loathe traffic.

It'll be a breath of fresh air because I haven't lived in a rural setting in about 7 years.

Won't your living setting be the same, though, regardless of where you live?

Yes, but time spent on the road commuting is free time lost.

Doing nothing will be more relaxing without all the city noise going on outside.

This is a pretty accurate picture. You forgot video games and a dinner of fast food.

Lately I've been ordering a large pizza and it lasts me about 2-2.5 meals.

I'm in my second stint away from Ohio...it's paid off both times. Now, I'd like to get back one of these days, but finding jobs for the wife and I has been miserable.

No plans to come back in the next 5 years.

Absolutely. I live in a town now, but it's only got 1 stoplight. I wish I could've found something in the "country" though. I'll get me some land one of these days.
