Marvin has lost more home playoff games by double digits than Cowher and Tomlin combined.

Why doesn't Tiernan ever get basement bans like Sleeper or Durkie(I think?) did. He's banned from like half of the threads and every other thread he does participate in he's either ignored or everyone turns against him. Ban this idiot already.

Anyways, ESPN was all over the Colts and Andrew Luck this morning for their comeback win. But throughout the game and the comeback, Luck was staying positive and reassuring his teammates they were going to win. Dalton, conversely, would go stand on the sidelines by himself after every turnover and stare at the big screen. Apparently, he was trying to figure out how he'd spin the loss on the team and not himself. He's apparently incapable of winning the big games, but not a leader, either.

The best attribute of Dalton as a QB IMO.....he can really take a hit. Typically he gets pretty good protection but I have seen him just get mashed numerous times and he's always right back up.

Eh, not so thrilled the best attribute with our underachieving QB is that he never gets hurt enough to leave the game.

Oh.....I didn't mean it as a SB predictor but he can take a hit. A lot of QB's cannot.

I've decided I'm sick of Dalton and they won't ever win shit with him. Watching him compared to Luck and Rodgers is night and day. Is he an NFL starter? Absolutely, I wouldn't argue with that at all. He's probably a top 20 QB. But he is not somebody you want leading a Super Bowl hopeful. Every single QB left is better than him, that should be enough for people to want to move on.

The problem the Bengals face now is the opportunity cost of replacing Dalton compared to their competition window and whether it's worth it to risk that.

They have 51 of 53 players under contract next year. They have 9 picks in this draft. They only lose Gresham and Johnson, and just drafted Eifert and Hunt who can replace them. They also have 10M each this year set aside toward the 2013 cap to extend Green and Dalton (meaning their bonuses would be prepaid and not against next year's cap), so they will have over 30M in cap space. They have a team with top 5 talent and can easily contend for a playoff spot next year.

They have 2 major question marks...QB and HC. Those are two of the most important things in the sport, but starting over with both is a huge risk and may really hinder their 2-year window with the roster and coordinators in-tact.

IMO, you give it one more year and then blow it up. With a bad start midway through next year, start the blow up early.

Gresham and Johnson.....what's their status? Why leaving?

Free agents.

0% chance they re-sign Gresham and probably 25% chance they re-sign Johnson. However, MJ can demand a nice sum and Cincy already paid Dunlap and Atkins. They also have pretty good DL depth. Peko, Gilberry, Hunt, Still, Johnson and Feathers (although the latter 3 are battling injuries so you never know).

I'm not very familiar with how it all works but didn't Cincy put the franchise tag on Johnson? Is that something just to keep him a little cheaper for a year or two or what?

Its a 1 year deal. But the pay is the average of the top 5 players at his position, I think.

I guess I just never really understood it.....and still really don't.

How does it help a team to franchise a player?

It prevents a player from leaving.

I believe you can also franchise someone without cap penalties. Like if they want to get paid, but you don't have cap space, you can franchise them to get them the money without consequence. Then, you can give them a longer deal the next year if you can make room over the course of the year.

I believe still have to be under the cap, I remember hearing the talking heads talking about the cap space when referencing Cutler.

Went to the game and just got home Tuesday night as my county had a level 3 snow until noon.

Bengals just looked listless. I thought the stadium got louder during the steelers games.
But anyways....one thing I noticed that didnt other games I have gone is that the bengals had 5-6 times where they had a tackle eligible on a play. Now, if I am the defense, unless it is at the goalline, I dont even bother having someone account for him in pass coverage and just allow that guy to be a free guy roaming the line.

Mikey boy wont do it but ML should get what Dusty got.

On a good front though........weatherman totally fucked up that weather sunday! Local guys were calling for rain starting around 8am and mix by game time and no rain showed up until late in the ame!

I'm guessing Cincy will make a nice offer to Michael Johnson, but I don't blame him if he can get more elsewhere. It won't necessarily be that the Bengals don't want to pay him, but the cost of paying him market value (or even slightly abve) when you are already paying Dunlap and Atkins huge money and have shown great ability to "plug and chug" defensive lineman, I just don't see it.

This isn't a Johnathan Joseph situation where the Bengals will match the offer and the player may leave anyway. Losing Joseph really hurt them and forced them to draft Ghee with a 3rd and Kirkpatrick with a 1st. The replacement for Johnson is already in house with Margus Hunt.

Michael Johnson also has issues giving full effort on plays, biggest reason he dropped to the 3rd round. I dont blame the bengals for not backing up the brink truck.

I would have said this before but this year, MJ played a lot more consistently and played well against the run too. I think most people felt he'd never be more than a specialized pass rusher, but he's shown more this year. The real question is...will this change when he gets paid? Sacks is what gets DE's paid and the best way to get more sacks is to see more snaps.
