They will jump ASU, obviously. I could see them jumping TCU and possibly Baylor as well.Footwedge;1674706 wrote:Ohio State jumps nobody this week. What a shame.

Really surprised at the number of people putting them in their top 4 on twitter. Hopefully the committee thinks likewise.

Herbie has them in his top 4 and they are getting a lot of love from other media guys as well. Lets hope the same happens with the committee. OSU needs to roll IU, Michigan and hope Wisconsin continues to look impressive heading into title game. Big12 without a title game, could really help OSU and hurt TCU / Baylor.Terry_Tate;1674737 wrote:Really surprised at the number of people putting them in their top 4 on twitter. B1G is better than Big 12. The difference between the OSU "escape" and TCU "passed test" is Minnesotta is good and should've been blown out(thanks jalin) and Kansas should've won but penalties and turnovers negated a win.
Also Kansas is terrible.

Kansas would win the SEC East though.

My post was made when Arizona State was winning by 2 scores. They will not jump anyone else. Buckeyes chances remain a very long shot. Texas has been rolling lately and could take down TCU. Oregon could get upset in the PAC 12 title game. If those 2 upsets happen, the Buckeyes STILL don't get in unless Ole Miss beats MSU or Auburn upsets Alabama.centralbucksfan;1674736 wrote:They will jump ASU, obviously. Joking aside, the B1G isn't better than the Big 12. The Big 12 just has 3 shitty ass teams that everyone pounds. Between Iowa State, Kansas and Texas Tech, they will get 3 COMBINED conference wins. All will be against one another. They will lose the 24 other league games.
Illinois beat Minnesota, Northwestern beat Wisconsin and Penn State.

And one of our bottom feeders just beat Notre Dame. Another one beat the top team in the SEC east.Azubuike24;1675212 wrote:Joking aside, the B1G isn't better than the Big 12. Valid points....if you're looking simply at the game-to-game facts.Footwedge;1675204 wrote:My post was made when Arizona State was winning by 2 scores. They will not jump anyone else. But another fact is MONEY. This is all about the $$$$$$. I've gotta believe the committee is not only looking at wins, quality losses, and strength of schedule but they also have to be considering which teams will bring the most $$$$$$ to the bowl game picture.
The Ohio State fan base is clearly in the Top 5 in the nation. If there is any doubt in the final analysis, money will surely walk.

I think the playoff committee will want OSU in the playoff, but they'll need a few things to happen to be able to validate them being in it.

Aka, Wisky needs to win out (and big). OSU needs to take care of business in their next two (winning solidly, which they should, both at home). Then TCU/Baylor need 1 more game looking mortal. And Miss State/Bama has to lose (one of the two).
If those things happen, were in, IMO.
Playoff will be:
Bama vs OSU
Oregon vs FSU
that's my guess

I don't see the committee leaving out 1-loss B1G champion named Ohio State. Expect the Buckeyes to be top 5 after this weekend.

I was 99% sure they ain't gettin in before last weekend ...I'm only 97% sure now. None of the other 1 loss teams was at the hands of a 5 loss opponent. The committee's credibility would be trashed even if everyone knows the Bucks improvement warrants them being in.

I understand the whole $$$ thing, how well OSU travels (and ND), and often that seems to be a determining factor in why some teams get into certain bowls, BUT...this isnt just "some bowl" that the committe needs to fill and may look at whom can fill the stadium. This will be the Semi finals and NC game. I think no matter whom is in the final 4 will have no problems selling the games.

Off of the Playoff topic...and maybe I missed this earlier in the discussion...but, does Jalin Marshall continue to be punt returner this year? Saturday wasn't an anomaly, he's muffed a few this year and made some awful decisions on fielding punts in general all season. Is it just too late in the season to switch? Is it Urban being stubborn? Or do we just not have anyone else that can fumble punts? Why not give Samuel a shot?

I like either Evan Spencer or Devin Smith as our returner

I actually wonder if they will have trouble selling out these games. You know teams like osu, Bama, nd, Texas will put people in the seats. But say Baylor or tcu, how many fans do they have that will travel to 2 different games (possibly) in two weeks.
Semi games should be safe though because of the long break leading up to them.
Maybe I'm looking too much into it too.

Urban said he went to Zach smith to tell him they were changing it and left the meeting deciding that Jalin will continue to catch(hopefully) punts.Benny The Jet;1675505 wrote:Off of the Playoff topic...and maybe I missed this earlier in the discussion...but, does Jalin Marshall continue to be punt returner this year? I'm in favor of putting nobody back there when the situation would be Jalin standing on the 10 to catch it. Just take you chance it goes into the end zone.

I'm curious as to where this money thing comes from. I can understand the smaller bowls but the big games if you judge off attendance there is no difference really between the games regardless of who is playing.
In regards to tv ratings for the championship game, the Buckeyes are 4th, 7th and 13th for ratings.
My point is, the money will be there with or without OSU. I want them to get in based off merit not t-shirt sales
And if anything other than football is included in picking the teams, that is pathetic especially if that is why OSU would get in.
