DIENHART DROPS A #TAKE ON OSU'S PRACTICE. BTN was at Ohio State yesterday. (Here's its bus homage to legendary Big Ten program Rutgers.) BTN's Tom Dienhart took in practice. His article is a treasure trove of access that'd only be granted to BTN heavy-hitters, and it's worth your time in full.
Here are some of his quick hits:
Most impressive player: Joey Bosa. Pure energy. Think Jared Allen.
Top specimen: Braxton Miller. The guy is chiseled from granite.
Best drill:& Soon after the team hit the field, players circled and “bull in the ring” started. It was spirited, loud, raucous and hard-hitting.
Loudest coach: Kerry Coombs. He has leather lungs. Never has a small man been so loud.
Impressive newcomer: Curtis Samuel. The guy is pure, unadulterated speed at running back.
Top moment: Larry Johnson running his defensive linemen through the drills. He’s fun to watch. And the Buckeyes have a large collection of big men who can move. It’s scary.
Again, the whole article is dynamite. It includes interviews with Braxton, Urban, and a lot more.
Curtis Samuel, however, is my pick to be the tongs to Ezekiel Elliot's hammer. Sure, Dontre Wilson's hype fizzled a bit last year (the DeSoto Jitterbug will ride out this year), but Urban Meyer singled Curtis Samuel out on numerous preseason occasions.

The speculation at this point is that they will be replaced with a much bigger opponent.

from South Bend
Not so much. Traded the home and home for two single home games, UNLV and Oregon State.

Today. By 2018, perhaps, perhaps not. They're starting to get it headed in the right direction in Chapel Hill.

While I do feel UNLV/Ore St. is a step down, I'd disagree that "they're starting to get it headed in the right direction" at UNC.

Until they're busted for all this educational stuff.

I think reading things the games were dropped because they couldn't change the dates of the games and the big ten is going to more conference games.

Mostly people whose opinions on the game I trust that have more access to the program than most fans.

The football team was already busted for all the educational stuff... now they are looking into the basketball team.

I agree that UNLV and Oregon St are a step down from UNC. Oregon St. isn't that big of a step down though. And UNC is not "headed in the right direction" they'll get 6-8 wins a year, maybe 9 wins in a good year. But they've been hyped up for like 5 years now about how they are going to take the next step... its not happening.

Michigan is apparently announcing 2 "huge" home and homes very soon. Right now it sounds like Texas and Cal are the 2 most likely. Standford was thought to be but now ruled out.
