I have no clue if he was innocent or guilty. The documentary spins it one way. But even so, there was PLENTY in there for me, if I was a juror, to say no way can I say for he was guilty. Not even close. Would've had to say not guilty if I was a juror...again, based on 10 episodes and reading some articles only.

Hell, the "interrogation" of the nephew was the most sickening thing I've ever watched. Not even Glory Days could defend that shit. The kid is legally retarded. He had no clue what was even going on.

Agreed. And apparently, a juror feels the same way. To be honest, if you're on that jury...and you really believe that that the police framed this man for murder, wouldn't you be scared to cross them, too? I sure as shit would be.Laley23;1773583 wrote:I have no clue if he was innocent or guilty. The documentary spins it one way. It's simple for me. The jury felt threatened by someone and they said guilty.
When they did a first vote right after the case, it was 7 not guilty, 3 guilty. Those 3 were so stubborn they wouldn't even listen to the others. Then someone like Lenk or Colburn got to the other two and the seven who said not guilty.
There really is no way they were left alone to decide a verdict.
I also don't know for sure if Avery is 100% innocent. But I'm not 100% sure he's guilty so he shouldn't be in jail.

I agree with Laley on if I was on the jury. But I've been thinking this, too:
And I agree with what S&L said, in addition.sherm03;1773585 wrote:...if you're on that jury...and you really believe that that the police framed this man for murder, wouldn't you be scared to cross them, too?

Do we still care about Making a Murderer spoilers?
I believe Steven Avery murdered Teresa Halbach, but I also believe that the Manitowoc County Sheriff's Department is crooked af. I mostly feel horrible for Brendan Dassey. I'm fairly convinced that he had nothing to do with the whole thing, and I thought the multiple interrogations of him were bullshit.

Pretty much my feelings as well. I think Avery did it, but the Sheriff's department did shit to make sure he didn't get out of it.Fab4Runner;1774013 wrote:Do we still care about Making a Murderer spoilers?

Latest flicks I've seen:
Unbroken = Solid
The Butler = Not too bad. Good history, but way too liberal for my liking
McFarland, USA = Very entertaining. True stories like this are pretty cool. And I love California scenery. I just would never want to live in that cesspool.

I just don't understand the motive. Why would be murder her. He was free and about to be rich. Makes literally no sense. There was never a why even presented. She came to take pics of a car like she had other times and all the sudden he just decides to murder her?? Why???

Because he was infatuated with her and she wanted nothing to do with him?Midstate01;1774191 wrote:I just don't understand the motive. Why would be murder her. He was free and about to be rich. I've been trying to read up more on it. I'm seeing these phone calls that were supposedly made to her. Certainly makes me think....GoChiefs;1774216 wrote:Because he was infatuated with her and she wanted nothing to do with him?
Then I saw a video that said a juror has said they compromised on the counts because they were gonna declare a mistrial but they were scared of the backlash. So they compromised on some counts of guilty because they believed that way he'd get a new trial from appeal courts.

He didn't rape that broad back in 1985, but it wasn't like he was a saint. He robbed a bar, burned his cat alive and ran his cousin off the road and pointed a gun at her. Obviously not the same as mudering someone, but he was a criminal. It's not uncommon for criminal activity to escalate over time.
To me, it just doesn't make sense that anyone else did it. If you think think the sheriff's department framed him, that means someone else killed her. Who?

Here's a lengthy article about it all. Worth a read. About 3/4 of the way down, it goes over evidence that wasn't mentioned in the documentary.Midstate01;1774217 wrote:I've been trying to read up more on it. I'm seeing these phone calls that were supposedly made to her. Certainly makes me think....

Just got back from Hateful 8, not in 70 unfortunately. I read about there being an intermission, and there wasn't one in my showing. Overall solid flick, 7.5/10 but might be in running for least fav QT movie. Samuel Jackson was the man tho.

If you put an eye patch on Steven Avery, you might have a little younger version of Belly.
Which leads me to say that he is Guilty!

Revenant cleaned up at the golden globes tonight. Also saw that movie today and it was really fucking good. Leo is the man and better win the Oscar. They'll probably give it to the guy who keeps playing trannies though.

The Hateful 8. Haven't really liked a QT film in a long time and still waiting.
This one was better than most of his recent trash though. 5.5/10.
His movies in the 90s were amazing. He has really sucked it up since. Admittedly I have not seen Django Unchained yet.
