Forrest Gump

Perfect 10 in my book
Just watched it again today, and I agree.

Watching Ender's Game. So far, I had to admit that this is the only time "Ender" and "good script" ought to be in the same sentence.

EDIT: Finished. Very well-acted, and the scripting was indeed well-done. It was drawn out in parts, but no so much that it lost my interest.

A solid 8.

Absolutely. I don't let go of things.

Also, it's a pretty good movie.

Captain Phillips. 8

Excellent movie but I was bummed when I read all the actual crew members say he was nothing like the movie portrays him.

Just about everything about him. That he wasn't a hero protecting his crew. Most of the crew thought he was arrogant and ignored the warnings about pirates.

Captain Phillips. 8/10 mainly because Tom Hanks was brilliant.

Catching Fire (Hunger Games sequel) 7/10

Saw this with my daughter last night, entertaining but pretty predictable. There will be more of these to come rest assured.

They are currently filming the last book in the series. Heard they are breaking it up into 2 films like the last Harry Potter book.

They are, although they don't need to. The 3rd book was my least favorite of the three.

That's interesting. I'm currently reading his book, and he comes off as pretty paranoid about the pirates with constantly mentioning the e-mails and the ship drills. But, since he actually was boarded and captured by pirates, maybe he's going back and trying to paint his image as someone who actually gave a shit when he really didn't? I still think if you put just a few sailors on a ship trained with weapons, it makes it nearly impossible for the pirates.

Weekend watching:

Escape Plan with Ah-nold and Sly, formulaic but entertaining watching the old guys, 6/10, you get what you expect from those guys
The Host, didn't work for me, 3/10

and in older school, will lose my man card for this but we dvr'ed Stardust. It was advertised as a chick flick, and not fantasy which is why it likely bombed. But for us older people it should rank up with Princess Bride for the genre. Tight narrative and script, good humor when it was called for, great cast and acting (DeNiro was hilarious), really a shame it wasn't marketed like it should have been.

I read quite a few articles telling both sides. Basically some of the crew sued him and the shipping company because they say the account that they give isn't true. He maintains his story that the movie was based on. From what I read he comes off pretty shady. I'd probably tend to agree with his accusers over him.

The Aviator is a top five movie all-time for me. Arguably DiCaprio's greatest performance. Should've gotten him an Academy Award.

Seraphim Falls. 10 of 10. I typically do not enjoy Westerns of any variety, but this one was excellent. Piers Brosnan was magnificent in the role of his career. A very atmospheric film set in the 19th century Pacific Northwest. Really liked it a lot.

The Five Year Engagement - 6.5/10. Typical romantic comedy, but I like Jason Segal and there were some funny moments.

Pitch Perfect - 9/10. Love that movie.

Best In Show - 7.5/10. So stupid and hilarious.

Windtalkers was on yesterday. Not too bad of a movie, even though it was edited. Worth the watch.

Devils Pass. A fake documentary about some Americans who went on an expedition in some russian mountains where 9 hikers died like 50 years ago. Wasnt too terribly bad

FIFY. IMO Guest's best. Every character nails it, and if you are dog person even the dogs are good actors. Guest's character is my favorite. "Walnut, Peanut, Pecan nut, Macadamia nut, and that was the one the always set my mom off, pine nut, that's a name of a town but also the name of a nut."
