It was billed as a dramedy and the previews suggested that. I dont know, maybe its cause I knew exactly what I was going to be watching, but I loved it.

Agreed, I was a huge fan. Christian Bale can do no wrong in my eyes, but I really thought the whole cast gave great performances.

I didn't think it was funny at all. Outside of maybe 2 scenes it wasn't particularly dramatic either.

I thought it was funny in parts, but the plot was thin and boring. I'll watch it again at some point....give it another shot

It wasn't meant to be either really. It was almost made as a spoof on sting operation movies. It was funny in the sense it was making fun of itself and it's genre. I mean, the hairstyles alone we're complete digs of the time.

Good review on Lone Survivor - thavoice. As we've shared before, I too had been waiting for this movie a long time. I did notice Marcus in the briefing scene but didn't catch the name patch, nice touch. I think the reason for the 3 days before notation was the movie wnated to depict that all that happened in only 3 days which is one more reason I only gave it 9 / 10. Why not tell the audience this extraordinary young man survived 2 gun shot wounds, broken vertabrae, numerous deep lacerations and extreme dehydration for 6 days?!? NOT 3...doesn't make any sense to me. But the initial firefight is definitely the most intense and gut wrenching battle footage I've ever seen. Taylor Kitsch was perfect as Murphy.

Yeah, that 3 day thing confused me and thought maybe I saw it wrong the first viewing.

The director was granted the autopsy reports and wanted to make sure to copy what injuries they actually had. I think the Marc Lee patch was on a wall or something, it was his memorial patch worn by his buddies after he died and I missed it the first viewing, but it may have been when the screen was buffering.

Agree he did great as Murph. I dont know actors very well and dont recall what else he has done.
the documentary for Murphy called Murph, the protector isnt too bad. Starts slow talking about his childhood and such and picks up later. Wasnt the worst ten bucks I have every spent.
I was hoping the movie would not be a let down as I have blown this up in my head for years now, and it def did not disappoint.

I cannot believe our local theatre isnt showing this movie. What a bunch of fucking hacks. I was wanting to go this week, but instead the closest would be 45-60 minutes away.

Kitsch was the troubled kid Riggs in Friday Night Lights...you could tell then the kid could act circles around the other "teens" on that show.

There were actually quite a few very talented actors on FNL. Michael B. Jordan was in The Wire, and recently starred in Fruitvale Station, which got great reviews.

Jesse Plemons played Todd on Breaking Bad, which we all know is the best show ever on TV.

I am a huge fan of Taylor Kitsch, but I wouldn't say he was the best actor on the show.

I watched American Reunion last night. I'd say 6 or 7 out of 10. I laughed quite a bit.

Best "actor" was Connie Britton. I said best of the "teens" who were mostly all mid 20s.

I know, which is why I listed two other "teens" who are just as good as Kitsch.

Well, none as good as John Carter, at least.

Americans weren't familiar with a 100 yr story first written by the same guy who gave us Tarzan - Edgar Rice Burroughs.

Cosign. I was expecting American Hustle to be a drama of the darker variety -- hadn't really seen any previews for it, so I had no idea it was going to be more of a comedy. I hate dramedies. They just seem like a big waste of time to me and utterly pointless. It's almost as if the director just could not make up their damn mind. The movie would've been better off as a drama first, with a script that is funny and witty. Often the best of dramas are permeated with humor -- The Wolf of Wall Street, for example -- and that kind of film blows American Hustle's kind away every time.

Then again, I prefer dramas to any genre.
