The good news is, no one on chatter makes under 150k except me, so you should be fine on 1 income.

She does some part time work for a previous company she worked for already. She will continue to do that as long as she can and is going to see if there is any way to get more hours. I've got a business venture in the works but I need to get off my ass and start it up already.

That's will take many years to fully transition, and won't happen until we move. There is no timetable set.

My wife and I are in our late 20's, 2 kids under 3 with another on the way...Both went to college, both had student loans...My wife has pretty much stayed at home (she works 1 day per week) since having our first kid 3 years ago. Even with basically 1 income we have aggressively paid down student loans (1 small loan left), only have 1 car pmt and will be gone next year, and we put money into retirement/ira's/529 plan for the kids.

some things that help:

-basic cable only ($15/mo), internet ($40/mo), Netflix ($10/mo). We spend about $75 in a category where most probably spend $200+. Only thing that stinks is missing some live sport on TV, but I can easily stream them if I really want to.
-cell bills -- mine ($30/mo) hers ($18/mo, still attached to her parents' plan)...We spend $50 where most couples probably spend close to $200
-We rarely eat out, and when we do we usually just grab take-out...This is probably just once per month. I know a lot of people that spend $100-$150/mo easily just on eating out.
-Grocery bill is around $350-$400/mo, we go every 2 weeks...For 2 adults, a 3 year old and a 1 year old...I think this is pretty cheap, but not sure.

lol...I guess the cost kind of scales the more people you add...If you spend $240/mo on your own, adding a 2nd adult wouldn't really add another 240/mo since a lot of things would be shared or make enough for 2-4 people. The kids eat what we eat, so that makes it easy. I'd say we go twice a month and spend around $175 at the grocery store, and I stop once a week or so at smaller stores/markets to restock on fruits, milk, bread etc, usually about $10-15 per trip.

We already pay nothing for television. Internet is $60+, I still need to call them and tell them to lower our rates. It's been raised over $20 since we got it. We don't do netflix but we do get 1/2 price Amazon Prime which is well worth the $40/year.

We do need to cut back on dining out. We've had a few $600+ months recently. This month we're well under $100 so far, though.

We spend about $60/week on groceries now. That number should be cut quite a bit in the spring/summer as I am expanding our garden and we just had half a beef processed on Monday.

Another great thing is we've got about $600/month coming off the books in April. Our Fusion will finally be paid off and we will be done with our 12 month financing of our new windows.
